I am not a risk taker and generally think of myself as a rule follower. BUT I believe in order to be successful in life or business you have to do things outside of your comfort zone and take risks. It’s important to really trust your gut. The problem is my gut always wants to play it safe, so I have to work to really dig deep and think – Am I scared because it’s new or because it’s wrong? Something like hiring my first employee – I know I needed a team to grow but I was worried about the upfront cost and letting go of things. Risk is something that has always played a big part in my life. Starting a business from the ground up has certainly played a large part in that. For me, I have found that you have to be willing to take the risk, but you have to be smart about it. I’ve always been one to look at the worst possible scenario and prepare for that. In the end, you can have all the plans in the world, but eventually, you have to be willing to take the jump. There is a touch of intuition as well, though.
