We had the good fortune of connecting with Rayonna Bethea and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rayonna, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I decided to pursue an artistic career because growing up I’ve always been the “girly girl” of the family. I loved having my nails done and anything sparkly. I also really enjoyed drawing. So when I was finally old enough I started painting my own nails even in elementary school, my nails were done! As I got older older my passion and skill grew so I decided to start my business.
What should our readers know about your business?
I started my business by selling custom press on nails. I had not seen many people with this business first starting out. So it was a challenge trying to figure out a good website to use and how to make shipping labels because that was all very new to me. In the beginning it was really trial and error. I would also lose motivation when I would see other press on nail artist post their work and go viral. My post after the first month did not do well I would always wonder want I was doing wrong. So I started trying out different types of content and posted on more than one platform. After that I started to grow and I added on “Junk Cases” to my business. Which made me grow a lot. Along the way I learned that not every video will go viral and that’s okay because numbers don’t make you any less of a business owner. Regardless of views and likes you have to keep remember your worth and keep going!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I cant tell my story without giving credit to my late boyfriend Kasim Crayton. I was very hesitant to start my business because of “what if’s”. I was afraid people wouldn’t order, they’d judge me, my work wouldn’t be good enough. Even with me constantly questioning everything he always motivated me and reminded me that all that mattered was what i thought about my work.
