Hi Nya, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I started my business, I knew I wanted to create more than just a service I wanted to create an experience. Lavish Skn was born from a deep passion for skincare and a desire to provide a space where clients feel seen, valued, and pampered. My goal has always been to make luxury skincare and waxing approachable, without compromising on quality or care. I built my brand with intention every detail from the name to the atmosphere is designed to reflect softness, confidence, and empowerment. What sets Lavish Skn apart is the connection I build with my clients and the education I provide behind every service. This is more than beauty it’s about building trust, boosting confidence, and leaving every client feeling their best. For me, Lavish Skn isn’t just a business it’s a legacy in the making.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My name is Nya Wilburn. I’m the owner of Lavish Skn, located in Charlotte NC, where I specialize in full body waxing and facials. Getting to where I am today has taken a lot of hard work, consistency, and faith. I started my business from the ground up, with no big following or shortcuts—just skill, passion, and a deep belief in my purpose. I built my clientele one appointment at a time, focusing on giving each person a luxury experience they could trust and return to.

It definitely wasn’t easy. There were times I doubted myself, experienced setbacks, and had to push through slow seasons. But I never let those challenges stop me. I believe I have a purpose in life, and I put God first in everything I do. My faith keeps me grounded, and even on tough days, it reminds me that what’s meant for me won’t miss me. I try not to let anything discourage me for too long—I always find a way to keep moving forward.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is to trust the process. Real growth doesn’t happen overnight. There will be highs and lows, but every experience is shaping you for something greater. I’ve learned to be patient with myself, to stay consistent even when I don’t see instant results, and to surround myself with people who truly support me and my vision.

What I want the world to know about me is that I’m passionate about what I do, and I pour love and care into every service I provide. Lavish Skn isn’t just a business—it’s my purpose in action. I’ve worked hard to create a space where clients feel confident, cared for, and seen. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I’m excited for everything that’s still ahead. With faith, hustle, and heart, I’ve turned my dream into reality—and I want others to know that they can too.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit Charlotte, I’d plan a full day of fun and good vibes! We’d start the morning with a peaceful walk at Freedom Park or Little Sugar Creek Greenway it’s the perfect way to catch up and enjoy the fresh air.

After that, we’d head to brunch at either Stir or Ruby Sunshine. Stir has a more upscale vibe with fresh cocktails, while Ruby Sunshine gives you that southern comfort with a New Orleans twist—both are solid go-to spots.

In the afternoon, we’d turn up a bit and head to a day party at Imperial or Pinhouse for something more chill but still fun and social.

To end the night, we’d grab dinner at Stats great food, strong drinks, and the perfect place to vibe out and reflect on a fun day. It’s all about balance—good convos, good eats, and even better company.
