Meet Leigh Anne Williams | Family Law Attorney and Firm Owner of Meridian Law Office

We had the good fortune of connecting with Leigh Anne Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leigh Anne, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I’ve never considered myself risk-averse—in fact, I believe that taking risks is what makes life and growth truly exciting. Every major turning point in my career began with a leap of faith, often without a clear roadmap, but always with a deep belief that I could figure it out along the way.
My professional journey began in the classroom as a high school English teacher. With a degree in English Literature and no clear career direction, teaching—or sales—seemed like the only viable options at the time. It didn’t take long to realize that while I loved education, teaching wasn’t my forever path. It took me two more years to summon the courage to walk away, with no backup plan, just a strong sense that something else was out there for me.
I eventually found my way into law, but even that was a series of bold steps. I used my three years of teacher retirement savings to fund my first semester of law school. I worked full-time as a corporate trainer by day and attended law school at night for three years. After graduation, I spent several years as an associate attorney before taking the biggest risk of my professional life—starting my own law firm.
Then COVID hit. While the pandemic was a factor, the truth is I wasn’t fully prepared for the realities of running a business. I had to close the firm after a year and return to associate work—a humbling experience, but also a necessary one. I learned what it really takes to not just practice law, but to lead, grow, and sustain a firm.
Fast forward to today, I’m now the proud owner of Meridian Law Office. We’ve been back in operation for over a year, and in just the last six months, the firm has grown exponentially—we’ve added an associate attorney, two staff members, expanded into a larger office, and we’re on track to double our revenue this year.
Every step, every misstep, every restart has taught me that meaningful change and true success require risk—and the resilience to keep going when things don’t go as planned. I wouldn’t be where I am today without those risks, and I wouldn’t trade the journey for anything.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Thank you for the opportunity to share more about our firm. We are a family law practice driven by a deep commitment to ensuring that every person—regardless of their background, financial status, or legal challenge—has access to strong, compassionate, and skilled legal representation.
What sets us apart is our belief that justice should never be a privilege reserved for the few. We approach every case with empathy, integrity, and an unwavering dedication to advocating for our clients during some of the most vulnerable times in their lives. Whether someone is facing divorce, custody disputes, domestic violence issues, or any other family law matter, we make it our mission to guide them with care, clarity, and strength.
Getting to where we are today hasn’t been easy. Like many who serve in this field, we’ve faced the difficult reality of seeing how the legal system can feel overwhelming, especially for those who feel unseen or unheard. But these challenges have only strengthened our resolve. We’ve worked hard to build a practice that prioritizes accessibility, transparency, and real support—not just legal expertise.
We’re most proud of the trust we’ve earned from our clients and the impact we’ve had in helping individuals and families rebuild their lives. Our work is more than a profession—it’s a calling. Every success story, every person who walks out of our office feeling hopeful again, is a reminder of why we do what we do.
If there’s one thing we want the world to know about our firm, it’s this: We’re here for everyone. No matter who you are or what you’re facing, you deserve to be heard, respected, and represented with dignity. That’s the promise we stand by—today and always.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting the Charlotte or Concord area for a week, I’d be so excited to show them everything I love about this vibrant, welcoming community. There’s truly something for everyone—whether you’re into food, art, nature, or just good company.
Day 1 – Uptown Charlotte Vibes
We’d kick things off in Uptown Charlotte with a walk through Romare Bearden Park, then head to the Mint Museum for some culture and creativity. Lunch at The Market at 7th Street is perfect for sampling local eats, and we’d cap the night with rooftop drinks at Nuvole Rooftop TwentyTwo for amazing city views.
Day 2 – South End + Local Breweries
We’d explore South End—walking the Rail Trail, popping into local shops, and grabbing coffee at Not Just Coffee. In the afternoon, we’d brewery-hop between spots like Sycamore Brewing, Triple C, and Wooden Robot, followed by dinner at Supperland—an upscale Southern gem in a converted church.
Day 3 – A Day in Concord
I’d show them around Concord, starting with breakfast at Sunflour Baking Company, then strolling downtown to visit the charming local shops. We’d stop by Cabarrus Brewing Company and grab dinner at The Smoke Pit—some of the best BBQ around.
Day 4 – Outdoor Adventure
Time to get outdoors! We’d hike Crowders Mountain for some gorgeous views, or rent kayaks at Lake Norman. Post-adventure, we’d unwind with dinner at Kindred in Davidson—hands down one of the best meals in the area (get the milk bread!).
Day 5 – Arts + History
Back in Charlotte, we’d visit the Harvey B. Gantt Center and Levine Museum of the New South for history and culture. Dinner would be tapas at Barcelona Wine Bar, then maybe a show at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center or live music at The Evening Muse.
Day 6 – Spa + Shopping Day
For a slower day, we’d treat ourselves to a spa day at The Ritz-Carlton Spa or Spa at Ballantyne. Afterward, some retail therapy at SouthPark Mall or the boutiques in NoDa, followed by sushi at O-Ku and a cocktail at Dot Dot Dot, a speakeasy-style bar.
Day 7 – Brunch and Nature
We’d close the trip with a relaxing brunch at Haberdish in NoDa—Southern comfort food done right. Then a final walk or picnic at Freedom Park before heading to the airport with full hearts (and probably full stomachs, too!).
Charlotte and Concord offer a beautiful mix of energy, hospitality, and culture. Whether it’s the creative food scene, the warmth of the people, or the hidden gems tucked in every neighborhood, there’s always something new to discover—and share.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without a doubt, I wouldn’t be the attorney or firm owner I am today without the unwavering friendship, mentorship, and guidance of Molly Anthony, Family Law Attorney and owner of Southpark Family Law. Molly took me under her wing when I was just starting out—fresh out of law school and eager to learn. She taught me not only the technical side of Family Law but also the emotional strength and compassion it takes to truly serve families going through some of life’s toughest moments.
She listened when I needed to vent about the challenges of a system that often feels ill-suited for the real-life complexities families face. She was there when I needed a shoulder to cry on after a tough loss or a difficult client conversation. She lent me her strength when I didn’t yet trust my own and helped me build the confidence I carry today as a seasoned attorney.
Molly was the first person I confided in when I decided to start my own firm—and the first person I called when I stumbled. Her support, honesty, and belief in me never wavered, and I truly believe that my career and the success of my practice are a direct result of her influence. I’m incredibly grateful to her, and she will always be a key part of my story.
