We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Espinoza and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Cheese & human connection. This life goes fast and bringing your friends & family together means everything to me. Put a gourmet cheese & charcuterie in the center of it & I’m a happy gal!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Prickly Pine Provisions was always unconsciously a goal but kinda of fell in my lap. I was let go from my corporate job during the pandemic & decided to go for it. It’s never easy & a lot of days are HARD but doing something you love will always be worth it. Having the privilege of creating something unique with my physical hands & having someone pay their hard earned money still makes me emotional. Prickly Pine Provisions is my pride & joy. We want to be part of all our clients special moments; big or small, happy or bittersweet.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh gosh… there are so many great spots! We’d definitely hit a farmers market and/or a market like Front Porch Sunday. Walking the light rail or any of the greenways. We’d probably do a day trip to any of Carolinas waterfall hikes. Definitely hit a baseball/football/soccer game in town; great way to see our city spirit! Lunch/Brunch: Kid Cashew, Rosemont, Lincoln Street, Haberdish. Dinners: Yunta, Indaco, La Belle Helene, Puerta

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents; Jennifer & Scott. They are my two pillars. Starting from a very young age & growing up in their restaurants it taught me the true meaning of hospitality & working hard. It was bred in me & it’s my biggest joy.
Derek Wilbur is the other. He’s one of my dads best friends & he owned a very successful restaurant many years ago which is where I had my first job. I’ll start by saying Derek is TOUGH as nails; he expects timelines, cleanliness, & the job to be done correctly. He swears, takes no sh*it & pushes you hard. In return; not only did I learn how to do all of those things within my job but SO many life lessons which I’ll forever be grateful for.
