Meet Dr. Taylor Dee | Educator, Children’s Author/Content Creator, Speaker, EDUpreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Taylor Dee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Taylor, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process was deeply rooted in a sense of calling. I’ve always loved teaching it’s where I first discovered the power of connection, creativity, and impact. But over time, I felt this strong internal pull to do something more, something that would allow me to express the other talents I had beyond the classroom things like storytelling, content creation, leadership, and vision-building.
I realized that my passion for education didn’t have to stay in a traditional box. I saw a bigger picture—one where I could still educate, but in ways that also honored my creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. That’s what led me to start my business. It became a way for me to merge what I love with what I’m gifted in, and to help others especially children, families, and educators grow and thrive in ways that are joyful, innovative, and deeply meaningful. It’t been a journey for sure.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a creative educator who made the bold decision to bet on myself to build a brand and life outside of the traditional classroom. My journey has been rooted in the belief that education doesn’t have to be one-dimensional. I used my passion for teaching, storytelling, music, and the arts to launch not only my personal brand, but also a creative arts school where children have space to unlock their natural gifts, talents, and voices.
What sets me apart is how I blend education with creativity in a way that’s joyful, culturally relevant, and rooted in purpose. I’m most proud of the leap I took beyond the classroom. It wasn’t easy, but it was necessary—and that one decision has led to so much impact and growth.
The path hasn’t always been smooth. Building something from the ground up requires consistency, discipline, faith, and a lot of self-reflection and drained resources over and over again. I’ve learned that confidence and boldness open doors, but it’s authenticity that keeps them open. People are drawn to what’s real, and when you show up as your true self, the right opportunities and connections find you.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that it’s okay to be more than one thing. The world may try to box you in or project limitations based on their own fears but if God gifted you, it’s your duty to nurture and share those gifts. No, we can’t do everything, but we can be intentional and devoted to what matters most to our true selves.
I want the world to know that my brand is rooted in purpose, creativity, and the empowerment of children, families, and educators. I’m excited to continue birthing bigger visions, building spaces where people feel seen and inspired, and reminding others that their dreams are valid and possible.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well I’m currently in Charlotte, NC and if my best friend were visiting Charlotte for a week, I’d give them the full Queen City experience—because Charlotte is truly a Southern melting pot of culture, creativity, and community. It’s a city where professionals, artists, and entrepreneurs from all walks of life come together, and there’s always something exciting to do.
We’d kick things off with dinner at one of my favorite spots Konnichiwa in Dilworth a cozy, elevated sushi spot that never disappoints. From there, we’d spend time in Uptown Charlotte, sightseeing and soaking in the energy near the Panthers and Knights stadiums, checking out local art installations and grabbing tea from one of the city’s many tea/ coffee spots.
We’d carve out a day for South End, where we’d walk the Rail Trail, pop into unique boutiques, and take in the vibe of the area it’s always buzzing with good energy. We’d definitely visit VAPA Center (Visual and Performing Arts Center) for some arts and culture, and as a book and learning lover, I’d show them some of my favorite libraries and parks for inspiration and quiet reflection.
To balance out the food and fun, we’d hike Crowders Mountain and enjoy a brisk walk along one of Charlotte’s many beautiful greenways because nothing beats that mix of nature and reflection.
At night, we’re turning it up a notch with some trappy tunes and good vibes at Para or Fumée Lounge, both of which bring a fun, upscale energy to the nightlife scene. And honestly, Charlotte always has something going on whether it’s a pop-up festival, outdoor concert, food truck rally, or art show so we’d leave space for the city’s spontaneous magic to surprise us.
Charlotte is full of hidden gems, warm people, and nonstop inspiration perfect for a week of exploration, culture, and unforgettable memories.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely this journey hasn’t been mine alone, and I’m so grateful for the people who’ve poured into me along the way.
First and foremost, my parents. Hands down, they have supported me in every season of my life. Whether it was showing up for school events, encouraging me to follow my dreams, or simply being a steady presence, they’ve been there every step of the way. Their love, belief in me, and consistent support have shaped who I am today.
I also have to give a huge shoutout to my mentor, Dr. Kimberly P. Johnson. She was the very first person to give me the opportunity to write and publish my first book—an experience that completely changed the trajectory of my life. Beyond that, she saw my gifts and made space for me to use them—whether it was on stage as an actress and singer or in various roles as an educator. Her mentorship helped me unlock my potential and showed me the power of creativity, storytelling, and education working together.
I carry their influence with me in everything I do.
