Meet Camille Kauer | Speaker, Commercial Actor, Podcaster, and Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Camille Kauer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Camille, what do you attribute your success to?
It’s as simple as defining what success means to you. Picture this: I grew up obsessed with American TV and pop culture, and now, I get to dive into the juicy stories behind the most iconic movies, music, and fashion. Hosting my podcast feels like living a dream, but here’s the kicker – I’m not just chasing my dreams; I’m helping others catch theirs. As a child, I’d talk at my mirror like it was the camera and my star-studded guests. I’d dream about hosting or even starring in a variety show like Diana Ross. I was obsessed with her after seeing her concert tape and movies. I never, not in a million years, thought I’d be the creator of my destiny, doing my show my way and on my terms.
Thankfully, I still work in commercial acting (not on strike) and emcee events to help pay for my podcasting habit. But when work gets slow, my podcast keeps me inspired and connected to my community. I might not be making millions a season like some big-name podcasts, but it’s everything I ever dreamt of and then some.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In the captivating world of entertainment and podcasting, the age-old adage holds true: “Nothing worth having comes easy.” It’s a world where success hinges on a delicate dance of relationships, those invisible bridges that span gaps and open doors before you even step into the room. I vividly recall a conversation with a close friend who revealed an intriguing truth about her husband – a man who had never needed a resume or filled out a job application, yet had ascended to great heights solely through the bonds he forged during his college years and his father’s connections. Initially, this revelation left me disheartened. My college journey had been one of constant transitions, leaving me with scarce ties to the six different universities I attended. Nevertheless, I chose to make it a challenge, a personal quest to explore the potency of my network. While I may not have mirrored my friend’s husband’s ascent to the rank of VP of a Fortune 500 company, I am undeniably making strides that never would have tried before. Fortune has smiled upon me in the form of unwavering support from countless individuals who rallied behind my podcast, propelling it to the pinnacle of recognition. The momentous tipping point arrived when I clinched the prestigious Cary Magazine Best On-Air Talent award. This honor served as the catalyst I needed to break free from the confines of a stagnant morning talk radio gig and embark on a thrilling journey dedicated to helping others with podcasting.
My gratitude extends beyond measure, first and foremost to my dear friend Fran Moses for her unwavering support and nominations. Equally, I am indebted to the incredible community that continues to vote for me and support my podcast. The outcome has been nothing short of extraordinary, with my podcast securing a place in history with a Guinness World Record, national and local awards, plus being named in the top 10 of 100 Beauty and Fashion podcasts
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my bestie, Jeremy Austin, aka “Call her 6” flew from West Hollywood, we would have to indulge in the ultimate med spa experience at Blue Water Spa, where Brooke and Catherine provide painless injections, and Laura excels in medical esthetic services. Then we would get inspired at the NC Museum of Art while discovering unique gifts for the holidays like my favorite earrings by fine artistist, Olivia Gatewood. And we wouldn’t miss the return of Ultimate Comics’ NC Comicon, a smaller version of our family’s summer must-attend, Galaxycon. I’ve connected with amazing guests for my show at these local cons. I cherish that I can enjoy a lot of the things I miss from Hollywood without the LA price tag right here in our vibrant community. I’ve been growing my client roster for digital marketing, social media managing, and behind-the-scenes photography, so I would also have to create new content together, granted being that it’s been years since we’ve seen each other since he is always on the road filming or touring, we might just be in the moment but usually, when my friends travel to NC they want me to document their trip and update their headshots.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In addition to the unwavering support of my loving parents, husband, and daughter, my journey as a podcaster has been enriched by the remarkable connections I’ve forged throughout my career as an esthetician and spa director. These invaluable bonds have played a pivotal role in sustaining my podcast and opening doors I never thought possible. Back in 2003, when I first delved into the world of esthetics, it was Glo Skin Beauty and its exceptional products tailored for sensitive skin, that became a staple in my back bar. Little did I know that our paths would cross again in the most remarkable way. Today, Glo Skin Beauty has become my most generous sponsor, not only providing products for exciting giveaways but also offering modeling opportunities that have added to my podcasting budget.
One of the most cherished friendships also dating back to 2003, is with Laura Brandon. Her invaluable recommendation as a content creator to Blue Water Spa has been a game-changer. Their support has not only helped me maintain my career but also enabled me to contribute to meaningful causes like raising funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation. I’ve had
treatments ranging from Botox, Dysport, and PRF filler, to microneedling, Emsculpt, and Esmella. Blue Water Spa has become essential in my video podcasting journey. Plus being able to make content and get self-care is work-life balance 101!
Another unsung hero in my success story is my dear friend Terrence Jones, whose creative brilliance has been instrumental in crafting the perfect brand image for my show. We’ve worked tirelessly together, creating compelling branded content that resonates with my audience. His unwavering dedication ensures that my portfolio is always up to date, ready to impress my agents at Directions USA in Greensboro, who have been mother agency since the ’90s.
I consider myself truly fortunate to have discovered a community of dreamers who wholeheartedly support my aspirations. From my family to Glo Skin Beauty, Blue Water Spa’s team, Directions USA, and Terrence Jones, these remarkable individuals and organizations have been the “wind beneath my wings,” allowing my dreams to flourish.
