Meet Angie Taylor | Local Woman Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angie Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angie, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
The Uwharrie Bigfoot Festival brings the community together in so many positive ways. Economically, it gives a big boost to local businesses—hotels, restaurants, shops, and gas stations all see a lot of foot traffic that weekend. It also gives local vendors, artists, and food trucks the chance to showcase their work to a much bigger audience.
On top of that, it helps put Denton and the Uwharrie region on the map. People come from all over to experience the festival, and many of them end up exploring our hiking trails, parks, and downtown shops while they’re here. That kind of exposure is huge for tourism.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Uwharrie Bigfoot Festival LLC is more than just a business to me—it’s my heart and soul. I’m incredibly proud that this festival is one of only two Bigfoot festivals in the entire state of North Carolina. Not only am I the owner and founder, but I’m also the sole organizer of the entire event. I’ve spent the last year and a half fully dedicated to bringing this vision to life—pouring in countless hours to make it truly epic. I eat, sleep, and breathe this festival because I believe in what it brings to the community and the joy it sparks in others.
On top of that, I also help my fiancé, Don, run Bigfoot’s Bar and Grill in Troy, NC. I handle all of the event planning and booking live bands there, while also working as an in-home caregiver. And somewhere in the mix, I even began writing a book, though I’ve had to pause that passion project for now.
None of this would be possible without Don—his love, support, and understanding mean the world to me. He’s been my rock through this journey, and we truly make a great team. We’re always lifting each other up and cheering each other on, and I’m grateful every day for that.
This journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth every challenge. If there’s one thing I want people to know about me and my brand, it’s that everything I do comes from a place of passion, hard work, and a deep love for my community. The Uwharrie Bigfoot Festival is just the beginning—and I can’t wait to see where it goes next.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d keep it local—because there’s truly no place like The Uwharries. We’d spend time at Bigfoot’s Bar and Grill on a Sunday Funday to enjoy live music on the unique pontoon boat stage outside on the patio while eating a handmade pizza or a fresh cheeseburger, maybe even catch the annual C10 show or karaoke. We’d hike the scenic forest trails, ride horses or the side by side through the woods, and ride motorcycles around Badin Lake or Lake Tillery. A visit to Town Creek Indian Mound and downtown Troy would add a bit of magic and history, and we’d swing by The Uwharrie Mercantile for local flavor. The people here are the heart of it all—genuine, fun, and full of stories. It’s the perfect mix of adventure, charm, and community.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to recognize my fiancé, Don Perry, owner of Bigfoot’s Bar and Grill in the Uwharries, located in Troy, NC. His constant support, encouragement, and belief in my vision have meant everything to me. Don has been by my side through every step of building the Uwharrie Bigfoot Festival, and his dedication to our community and local business is truly inspiring. I’m grateful for his love, his partnership, and for the way he brings people together—both at Bigfoot’s and beyond.
