Meet Anastasia Sagalovich

We had the good fortune of connecting with Anastasia Sagalovich and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anastasia, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
It all started in Miami. My husband worked a regular job to pay the bills, and that allowed me to design and create. This led me to a lot of fashion shows, and eventually, to work with Joey Rolon of Funky Sexy Couture, where not only did I receive the guidance and exposure I wanted, I also got to work with some very high profile clients, and get my name out there.
After a while, though, I became drained and jaded. I was never able to express myself through my designs because “no one is into that”. I was around people I couldn’t stand, everyone was trying to keep up with the Kardashians, it was all about being fake and superficial, like yelling at the waiter because he got your order wrong while posting #prayforparis on your social media. Whenever I did a design for someone and was promised compensation and exposure, none of it happened. Then when I see something I designed on Pinterest or an online store, my name isn’t attached to it. The only way I actually got paid is when I did alterations on the side, but even then, I was underpaid, or I was being paid in food and beer. I all but gave up. After a while, I decided not to do Fashion anymore. When I finally told my husband my plans, he wasn’t very happy about it.
We decided to talk about it over a couple of Moscow Mules at a bar in Wynwood, Miami called Gramps. We both vented at how frustrating it was to drive all over the city to work with people who would just use us. It didn’t help that we were struggling financially too……and my husband told me there is no way I should give up what I love doing. That was when it hit us. Why not try doing it ourselves? After talking about it some more, we decided on the name Snarkeez, which reflected the mood. We were jaded, fed up, and cynical. We wanted to give the established Fashion industry the proverbial middle finger. We would do our own thing and not care what’s “hot right now”. We would be sarcastic, rebellious, and snarky…….hence the name, Snarkeez.
My husband bought a second hand laptop on Ebay and a used an iPad to take photos. I had an old Etsy page I hardly used, which he repurposed as the first official Snarkeez webpage. Our first “photoshoot” was just me wearing a new hoodie we designed and one of my new dresses near some graffiti walls in Wynwood, with my husband as the Photographer, which was then posted to the new Instagram page. That, as they would say is where it all began.
Today, it’s almost surreal what our idea has become. I am now the Designer and CEO of a rising alternative fashion brand, and I still have to remind myself that the buzz about us is real. My husband, Rudy Narace, does everything else, from advertising, to marketing, to IT, security, event planning etc. He is officially the COO, and sometimes he designs as well.
Our fanbase consists of models, influencers, and now, fashion magazines and fans of anything alternative or gothic. We have been published in various fashion magazines, including ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar, and L’AMOUR, and our merchandise has also made it to New York City via Flying Solo. You can find our exclusive merch at Flying Solo NYC on 419 Broome Street, New York NY 10013. We now have a proper website, www.snarkeez.com, and if you are curious about our origins or you’re a long time fan that feels nostalgic, the Etsy page we started still exists with items exclusive to it. Who knows where the future will take this idea we started, but for now, it seems everyone wants more of what we offer.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My designs are a reflection of the worlds my husband and I create together — a fusion of dark romance and futuristic rebellion. My aesthetic leans heavily into goth and dark academia, mostly inspired by music artists like Marilyn Manson. I gravitate toward rich textures, dramatic silhouettes, and moody palettes that tell stories of mystery and power.
My husband’s style thrives in the neon glow of Cyberpunk and Synthwave — metallic accents, sharp lines that pulse with a sense of digital escapism. When our visions intertwine, the result is a delicate balance of shadow and light. Flowing fabrics clash with tech-inspired embellishments. Each piece feels like a relic from a dystopian future — where elegance meets rebellion, and tradition is redefined.
Our work isn’t just fashion — it’s a collision of two worlds, bound by a shared desire to push boundaries and craft something that feels both timeless and ahead of its time.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Milestone Club – A very historic divebar in Charlotte, where you can have a beer and socialize while listening to underground punk and metal music. Sometimes they have EDM and dubstep as well.
16-Bit Arcade – My husband absolutely loves this place, as you can have food and a beer while playing retro arcade games, or even go bowling
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A huge Shoutout to Flying Solo NYC, and their Copper Room. Specifically Renata Masarella and Bayr Ubushi. Thank you for believing in our brand and helping us go to the next level in our growth.
A big Shoutout to Charlotte Seen, and Rita Miles, the mad scientist behind Charlotte Fashion Week. We had just moved to Charlotte, NC, and Rita was the one that ushered us into the local Fashion scene there.
Shoutout to The Face magazine and Andre Michael. A very innovative person, and a perfectionist when it comes to his fashion shows
The Charlotte Fashion Collective, and Michael Todd Burton, who is currently perfecting “Fashion For All”, utilizing his assets to create an all inclusive fashion scene.
Acadia Rose aka “Vinigure”. Top shelf model, influencer, stylist, event planner, she can do it all! She is more than someone who works with us, she is part of our family. Wherever we are headed, you’re coming with us. “Ride or Die”!
Finally Shoutout to Phillipe Coley, the CEO of our new sister brand, Doc Skippy, along with his business partner, Jeremy Watson. This brand only started last year, but we have seen their relentless dedication to the vision, and we’re currently watching this brand evolve into another rising star.
