We had the good fortune of connecting with Allyson, Diane, & Dewey Hawkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allyson, Diane, & Dewey, what role has risk played in your life or career?
My husband and I have taken a risk with the marketing costs of promoting Mrs. Moves LLC. We chose to go the billboard route in our home town to build up brand awareness and we also pay for instagram marketing as well. We are self funding Mrs. Moves LLC and the risk has been worth the reward, scared money doesn’t make money.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I came to America back in 2018 to visit my family not knowing that I would meet my future husband on vacation. Before coming to America in 2018 I spent my time working for the Government in Colombia. My position was to keep track of the vaccination of our countrys live stock. Before going to work with the Government I lived a normal life going out with my friends, having set my own goals and dreams of one day owning my own business or working in a high profile position for a large company. When I came to America for vacation I met my husband who I met through my cousin. Like most people we dated for a while before we decided it was time to get married, he visited my country for two weeks then later that fall I came back to America and lived with him. After seeing we both wanted to be with each other for good we decided to get married. My husband owns a trucking company, manages another trucking company, is a pro basketball agent of ten years, as well he is the CEO/Sales Director at my company Mrs. Moves LLC. We differ ourselves by the sweat equity that we put into our company, the people we hire, and our vision of moving separates us from our competition. Has it been easy to get to where we are today? No it hasn’t been easy at all. My husband stays very busy and is self funding Mrs. Moves LLC to help myself and his mother grow the business. There’s a lot of day to day responsibilities that I have to deal with regarding our business, being the face of the company, and being a stay at home mom to our son. The lessons I’ve learned in trucking come from watching my husband grow his own company while managing a larger trucking company than his own. I’ve been around the industry since 2018 joining him on his runs, helping him with scheduling, meeting clients for quotes, and most of all finding our own path in the trucking world and doing what works.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If someone from my home country came to visit me I would take them to one of my favorite restaurants in Raleigh, NC “The Angus Barn”. From the scenery to their amazing food it’s a great place to have a dinner and start the night off. Raleigh has a multitude of different venues to check out, and for the sports friends of mine we live in an area that is surrounded by three of the top schools in America, Duke, Carolina, and NC State along with four professional sports teams. Here in North Carolina I love the scenery, the fact that I’m a little over three hours from the mountains, two hours away from the beach, and home is beautiful with a lot of wild life and country side. Where I came from in Colombia I’m use to great food, wild stock, and beautiful scenery. North Carolina has given me a feel of being back home with all it has to offer. Another place that I’ve grown to love that is great for all seafood lovers, 42nd Street Oyster Bar in downtown Raleigh,NC. I must say though when it comes to finding food from my homeland it’s very hard to, but there’s a couple of Colombian restaurants in Charlotte, NC that I visit quiet frequently.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my husband for coming up with this business idea, the name, and all his dedication to seeing myself and my mother in law succeed in the moving industry. Dewey has been in trucking since 2018 and throughout the past six years I’ve been right alongside of him watching him grow his two trucking companies. Watching it grow interested me to have my own trucking company as well. Creating Mrs. Moves LLC is a blessing with a lot of direction behind it. and a great team of movers that we are blessed to have! Mrs. Moves LLC gives me the opportunity to be a stay at home mom to our son and I thank my husband for his sacrifice to growing each of our companies.
