Working hard or hardly working?

What’s the right balance between work and non-work time? The traditional 9-5 has slowly disappeared with the emails and zoom and texting going far beyond traditional business hours. We asked members of our community to share with us how they think about work-life balance.
Let’s just say this: not thinking about balance nearly killed me…literally. Years ago, I found myself in the ICU multiple times due to life-threatening blood clots. I was juggling too much, pushing too hard, and treating my own well-being like it was a choice. That experience was a wake-up call I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Before I met my husband, Zach, and had my son Rowan, my life was work, all work. Now I work to support the life that I want to live with them. I think that we are all on a journey to figuring that out. It ebbs and flows in different life seasons and chapters and as soon as you think you may have it figured out, oftentimes circumstances change and you have to pivot again! It’s a bit of trial and error and stumbling at times. You have to have a lot of grace and forgiveness of yourself…and others too.
