I am an ex-systems engineer and worked in the tech industry for over 17 years. My degrees are in Computer Science and Business (MBA) and have nothing to do with wellness! It took many years of experimenting with recipes, ingredients, and learning how to properly feed my boys, along with some nagging personal health issues to convince me to become a certified holistic health coach. As a mom I love that I have given my daughter the opportunity to see me build a business and chase after entrepreneurship. I believe that risk is an imperative part of growth in our lives. I think through my existence thus far and can’t imagine the stagnation that I would feel if I hadn’t taken the risks that I have. A little over 13 years ago, I left my hometown of Phoenix, AZ. I had no real plan and only the possessions that I could fit in my ’97 Jetta. After a road trip and lots of soul searching, I ended up in Charlotte a few months later. This was one of the biggest risks in my life, and although there were some really scary, sad and painful moments on the journey, the good definitely outweighed the bad. Pelvic floor physical therapy is so much more than just doing Kegels. One thing most people outside the field don’t realize is that pelvic floor dysfunction can show up in many different ways—leaking, pain with sex, constipation, pressure or heaviness, and even low back or hip pain. And it’s not always about strengthening; sometimes the pelvic floor is actually overactive and needs to learn how to relax. We assess the whole person, not just isolated muscles, because the pelvic floor works in coordination with the diaphragm, deep core, and hips.
