We had the good fortune of connecting with Wes Harper and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wes, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Unless you are faced with a life threatening health situation or there is an evolutionary shift in the narrative, you never give up. You may need to change your plan, amend your strategy and tactics, but do not waver from your goal. The saying ‘when your backs against the wall, your only option is moving forward’ applies here. The difference between success and failure is your desire and tenacity to succeed.

What should our readers know about your business?
I have owned the company LightWire, Inc. for 23 years. As an IT company, I have had to evolve personally and professionally as technology advances and shifts. I am very proud that my company has supported not only clients, but employees who work for us. We have a very strong sense of ‘team’ and our clients feel our energy and compassion for helping them resolve complex issues in the ever changing I.T. landscape.
I think the most important thing that I want our clients to know is that we support the individual person. We provide trust and compassion, but in the form of helping people through their business I.T. issues.
The most important lesson I have learned is that people need communication. People are head down, engrossed in their phones and laptops, but crave one on one communication. Listening and understanding are the most crucial skill that a person can possess.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The town of Cary is an excellent place to take my guests when they come to the area. There is a vibrant downtown full of pubs and restaurants, live music in great venues, greenways for walking and biking and Umstead State Park which is a slice of nature that provides trails and scenery. A perfect day would include a morning hike through Unstead, lunch on the outdoor patio at Crosstown Pub and Grill, (a small nap), then an afternoon evening at Downtown Cary Park taking in the scenery, people and searching out the live music that most suits our tastes.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Although it is a bit cliche’ I have to give a huge amount of the credit for my success to my wife Molly. She is a realtor in N.C. and has been through ups and downs with the market and sales trends, but has never stopped fighting and working hard. If I ever get down or grumpy she is quick to give me a hug and compassionately tell me to stop feeling sorry for myself and get back to it! My personality needs this kind of response and she and I both know it. She means it out of love and knows me better than I know myself sometimes.
