Meet Victoria McPherson | Founder & Cosmetic Formulator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria McPherson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Victoria, every day, we know how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
It started as something just for me. I was in a really hard place emotionally and felt like I was fading into the background of my own life. I needed something that helped me feel present and cared for again – even if it was just for a few minutes a day.
So I started creating products and rituals that made me feel grounded. And as I did, I realized how many people probably needed that same reminder—that we always deserve wellness, not just when we’re burned out.
Renascential grew from that. It was never about chasing trends. It was about changing the narrative around self-care and helping people feel seen.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Renascential is a luxury bath and body care brand rooted in the belief that self-care should be an everyday ritual, not a rare treat. Our products are high-quality, made with intention, and designed to support your nervous system, your senses, and your sense of self.
What sets us apart is how we approach transparency. I never wanted to market through fear or trends. There’s so much misinformation in beauty, especially around ingredients, and I wanted to be a brand that educates, reassures, and respects the customer. We don’t label things “clean” to scare people. We explain our choices and trust people to make their own.
Business-wise, getting here has not been easy. Like most founders, I’ve dealt with self-doubt, financial risk, burnout, and trying to do too much on my own. There were definitely moments where I wanted to quit, but I kept going because I truly believe in what I’m building. From learning to set better boundaries to trusting my pace instead of comparing myself to other brands, every challenge has taught me something.
I’m most proud of how Renascential makes people feel. It’s not just body care. It’s a reminder that you matter, that you deserve softness, and that you don’t need to earn your rest. That message is woven into everything we do.
If there’s one thing I want the world to know, it’s that this brand wasn’t built to impress anyone; it was built to support people who are already doing their best. If Renascential can be a small part of someone’s daily ritual—a moment of stillness, pleasure, or peace—then I’ve done what I came here to do.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m still pretty new to Greensboro, so honestly, I feel like a tourist here too, but downtown has been so inviting! It has that small-town feel without being boring, and there are so many local spots I still want to explore. If my best friend came to visit, we’d definitely start there—grab coffee, wander around, pop into Scuppernong Books (it’s seriously reader heaven in there), and end the night with cocktails at The Quarter.
We’d probably take a walk through the Bog Garden, and if we’re feeling fancy, book a spa day at Grandover Resort… because why not? For dinner, Machete is so high on my list, so table for two, please! I’d also want to check out some of the small shops like Just Be, and maybe dig through treasures at The Red Collection and Reconsidered Goods. If the weather’s nice, we’re definitely finding a patio somewhere with seating fit for professional people-watchers.
I’m still figuring the city out, but that’s kind of the best part. There’s something really fun about falling in love with a place little by little.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
At the heart of everything I’ve built is my family – they’ve been the soft place I land. The people who will sit on the phone with me for hours just to be there for me, even if I don’t have the words to say what’s wrong. They remind me of who I am when I forget, and they’ve never stopped believing in me, even when I wasn’t sure what I was building yet.
It’s taken a village to get me here. The quiet support, the loud cheering, the simple “keep going” texts on the hard days… it’s all meant everything.
And creatively, Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert shifted something big in me. It gave me permission to trust my own ideas and to honor creativity without trying to control or perfect it. That book helped me loosen my grip and stop waiting for the right moment. I think it played a huge role in me finally starting.
