Meet Twanna Joyner-Jones | President/Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Twanna Joyner-Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Twanna, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
As early as I can remember growing up -I’ve always had a passion to help people. I started the The Help Center NC because of my passion and devotion to provide help , hope and solutions to families facing hunger and other challenges . My goal of starting my organization was to create a community where everyone has access to nutritional foods, education and healthcare. A community where we find health, safety, happiness, joy and fulfillment.
What should our readers know about your business?
The Help Center NC is a 501(c)3 organization founded in 2016 for the sole purpose to provide help and hope to families suffering and facing challenges. Our core focus is Food Bank , Diaper Bank, Mobile Pantry , Youth Enrichment and Senior Support Services. I’m most excited about even in our start up times of getting the organization off the ground we did’t grow weary- We Stayed the course . Lessons I’ve learned is life is much easier when you weather the seasons together and always be willing to take the next step.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would start our day by having brunch at First Watch restaurant and then we would visit the Capital of Raleigh and learn the rich cultural history of our beautiful city. After our venture of the city we would visit Sola Cafe a small coffee and bakery shop. Then we would end the day with Dinner at our favorite steak house Flemings and end the night with hot apple cider and a walk taking in nature and breathtaking views of one of my favorite trails in the Village district.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I first thank God for entrusting me with this huge task to provide help and hope to families facing emergencies, second it would be my ‘Amazing Husband (Bobby) and Children-Nya, Quan(Rach),Bray and Lani who have joined me on the journey to alleviate hunger and who also share my vision to create a better place for all. I also give a shout out to all of our staff, volunteers and donors who make it possible to do what we do – their love , prayers and dedication to my organization makes it easier to meet the growing demands of our neighbors in need.
