We had the good fortune of connecting with Trista Blandshaw and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Trista, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After spending 18 years in the fast-paced, profit-driven world of corporate America, I needed something more fulfilling. The desire to contribute beyond quarterly results burned deeply within me. I wanted to build a business that served a higher purpose, one where people, not profits, took center stage. That’s how Perfect Experience Notary was born. It’s not just a notary service, it’s an embodiment of my values, a platform where I can use my experience to empower individuals, navigate complex processes, and make a tangible difference in my community. At Perfect Experience, I strive for genuine connections, fostering trust and ensuring each client feels supported and well-informed. I was once told my relationship management skills is “my sweet spot.” That’s because I truly care about others. Building Perfect Experience Notary isn’t just about achieving financial goals; it’s about fulfilling a deeply personal quest to serve others and leave a lasting, positive impact on the world around me.”
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Perfect Experience Notary, LLC is a mobile notary service deeply rooted in serving and supporting the local communities in Wake and Johnston counties. Unlike typical notary services, we prioritize accessibility and community impact, going beyond just notarizing documents. We offer a range of general notary services, to include notarizing essential documents such as affidavits, wills, and medical directives. This service has proven to be a convenient option for individuals who require notarizations but can’t easily travel to an office-setting. In addition to standard notary services, we also offer concierge business services such as Loan Signings, I-9 Employment Verifications and Field Inspections. Our clients range from a senior citizen needing an important document signed to a real estate attorney that needs a notary to assist with a loan closing. My favorite quote from Maya Angelous sums it up “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did but people will never forget how you made them feel.” During my stint in corporate America it was not always feasible to put people and their experiences first, so it’s the best feeling now that I’m able to create a business that takes the time to focus on the customer’s experience. I’m extremely grateful to be doing what I’m doing. I feel like I won the lottery. It has been so freeing to me that I no longer chase titles. I also understand that I had to go through my previous roles to fully understand my true purpose is about serving others.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First, it will depend upon which friend is visiting however I would initially try to show them the charm of country living. I thrive on taking it easy so a casual stroll in downtown Clayton and lunch at the Crawford Cookshop would be a great start. Their menu is very eclectic but yummy. If time permits, we may take in some spa services at the Woodhouse Spa – North Hills along with some retail therapy at Lafayette Village in Raleigh. I would combine a week of country and city living at its finest.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This might sound clichéd, but I wouldn’t be here without the incredible teams I’ve had the privilege to lead throughout my career. Building, managing, and learning alongside those sharp minds has been instrumental in my professional growth. Each team member possessed unique talents and perspectives, which pushed me to be a better leader and thinker. But I’d also be remiss not to mention Neil Steffens, a true mentor who believed in me even when I doubted myself. His guidance, challenges, and the opportunities he provided shaped me into the leader I am today. So, my shoutout goes to both the dynamic teams I’ve had the honor to work with and to Neil, who played a pivotal role in guiding my journey.
