We had the good fortune of connecting with Titania Hunter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Titania, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, and began my artistic journey at a young age. However, it wasn’t until my senior year at UNC Charlotte that I figured out what type of art I wanted to create. In 2022, I felt led by the Holy Spirit to start my Worship Flagging In Spirit Ministry. Both forms of expression involve dynamic movement—whether it’s the stroke of a paintbrush on canvas, the flow of worship flagging and dance or combining both simultaneously. I have so much JOY! It’s a way for me to express gratitude and glorify Him in all that I do.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve developed my skills and grown as an artist, not only in my artwork but also in worship flagging. I see them as POWERFUL ways to express faith and connect with others. My goal is to keep building my ministries, preaching the gospel, and continue using the gifts that the Lord has given me. Whether I’m painting or flagging, I want to create spaces where people can experience inspiration, hope, and spiritual connection. By merging prophetic visual art with the expressive movement of worship flagging, I hope to evoke emotions and spiritual experiences that resonate on a deeper, deeper level.

I’ve faced many challenges throughout my life, but by the GRACE of God, I’ve been delivered from the hardships I’ve endured. The chains that once held me down have been broken, setting me free to live in His light. “God is light, in Him there is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5) KJV. My faith in Jesus Christ has always lifted me back up when I fall down. No matter how many times I’ve stumbled, His strength and love have given me the courage to rise again. In addition, I am proud of the work I am doing, and I don’t want to stop. This is just the beginning—I believe there’s so much more to come.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Downtown Charlotte is a fantastic spot for Charlotte locals or for people stopping by to enjoy great dining and fun activities. With the warm weather, it’s the perfect time to get outside and have some FUN! For activities, you can visit theaters like the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center to catch live performances. Other enjoyable options include visiting parks, watching parades, and joining art walks. Art lovers can explore museums like the Mint Museum and the Harvey B. Gantt Center.

If you’re looking for some great dining options, consider checking out Halcyon-Flavors from the Earth, Sabor Latin Street Grill for Latin-inspired dishes, and Amelie’s French Bakery & Café for delightful pastries and coffee. To enjoy the great outdoors and get a dose of nature, consider hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I want to say, thank you for featuring me in Shoutout North Carolina Magazine. It’s an honor to be recognized and to share my journey with a wider audience. I appreciate the opportunity to connect with the local community and inspire others through my work.

Next, I want to express my sincere thanks to Make Me Available (MMA) for allowing me to share my testimony on their blog as a guest contributor. I still recall that significant moment for me, where I opened up and shared my story/testimony for the first time. MMA is a Christian clothing brand that offers a platform for believers to share their stories of faith and messages of hope. They also work with global charities like Feed the Hungry and A21.

Lastly, A big thank you to WYTV7 CBN, Libby Grier for continuing to give me the opportunity to help out and be part of their community by designing flyers for upcoming events and art auctions. I also want to thank everyone who has supported me throughout my journey as an artist. THANK YOU! Your love and support means a lot to me. :))
