We had the good fortune of connecting with Terrance Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Terrance, what do you attribute your success to?
Since childhood, I’ve always focused on self-improvement rather than comparing myself to others. Growing up in a small, close-knit community, where everyone’s achievements were closely observed, it was difficult to stand out. But I learned early on that the key to success wasn’t just about competing with others—it was about continuously outdoing myself and striving to be better each day.

To set myself apart, I placed a strong emphasis on managing my personal brand. Whether through my appearance, the way I interacted with others, or how I responded in challenging situations, I made sure to always present myself with professionalism, confidence, and a positive attitude. This commitment to maintaining a strong personal brand has remained a cornerstone of my success and the success of my brand, and I carry these principles with me as I continue to grow in my adult years.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When the pandemic hit, the world came to a screeching halt. As the world paused, I seized the opportunity to pivot and explore new possibilities—specifically, the world of real estate. I started by learning about wholesaling, diving into books, podcasts, and everything I could to understand the business. To my surprise, I landed my first contract within the first month of cold-calling prospects. Unfortunately, the deal fell through, and life took its course.

After the setback, I took a step back from real estate. However, years later, after leaving my corporate management role at Wells Fargo, I reignited my passion for the real estate industry. Determined to succeed, I enrolled in real estate school and passed all three exams on my first attempt! That achievement marked the beginning of a new chapter in my career. I transitioned to Keller Williams, where I closed my first deal and eventually moved into new construction sales with Smith Douglas Homes.

Throughout this journey, I’ve learned that success in real estate, and in life, comes down to being relatable, trustworthy, hardworking, and unafraid to do whatever it takes to get the job done. One of the hardest challenges I faced was realizing that the only obstacle standing between me and my success was myself. Once I recognized that, I understood that the power to shape my future was in my hands.

To anyone reading this: If you’ve set a goal for yourself, never allow anyone—or anything—to stand in your way. The world will always throw obstacles in your path, but you owe it to yourself to keep pushing forward, no matter the setbacks. Remember, success isn’t just about reaching the destination—it’s about staying the course and persevering.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As a Charlotte, NC resident, it’s no secret that the city offers countless things to do. As someone who loves great food, I always make it a point to recommend visiting Fahrenheit Charlotte when in the area. Created by Chef Rocco Whalen, Fahrenheit offers stunning panoramic views of the city’s skyline from every table. The restaurant features a full-service bar, and a la carte dining, as well as exclusive private dining rooms for intimate meals or larger gatherings. The menu showcases inventive American cuisine, complemented by an extensive wine list, creative cocktails, and local draft beers. The skyline view at night is truly unforgettable!

In life, we are fortunate enough to cross paths with so many incredible people who inspire us each and every day. These individuals encourage us to push the limits, defeat the odds, and achieve success beyond what we ever thought possible. I am truly blessed to have an amazing family, a circle of devoted friends, and an extraordinary partner who continually pushes me to strive for greatness and persevere through life’s challenges.

Their unwavering support has been a constant source of strength, lighting my path when I encountered unforeseen darkness. In moments when the road ahead seemed uncertain, their belief in me helped me find the courage to keep going. Whether through their words, actions or simply their presence, they have all played a crucial role in my journey, reminding me that I am never alone.

I am profoundly grateful for the love, wisdom, and mentorship that each of them have shared with me. My family has shown me the power of unconditional love, my friends have taught me the true meaning of loyalty, and my partner has been my rock and my guide. I am indebted to them for everything they are, everything they continue to be, and for the endless ways they lift me up and help me become the best version of myself.
