Meet Tavenia Williams | Mental Health Counselor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tavenia Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tavenia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my business with the mission of aiding individuals struggling with mental health challenges, specifically anxiety and depression that’s rooted in both everyday struggles and spiritual dilemmas. My own journey as a Christian navigating mental health obstacles ignited this passion within me. I firmly believe in God’s presence in our lives, however, I came to realize the need to discern my role in my own healing process. After going through my own experiences and some research, I recognized the significance of incorporating both spiritual and practical approaches. This has lead to the inception of my business. Despite initial hesitations due to market saturation in my area, I pressed forward, conducting a thorough market analysis, crafting a business plan, and seeking counsel from experienced professionals in the field.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m incredibly proud of my journey in starting my own business, especially considering that entrepreneurship isn’t a common path in my family. Overcoming my fears to pursue what I love, which is making a meaningful impact on people’s lives, has been incredibly rewarding. What sets me apart is my unique ability to connect with individuals on a spiritual level, guiding them through their healing processes. However, it hasn’t been easy navigating the realms of mental health and entrepreneurship. I’ve encountered many challenges and heard stories that deeply affected me. Despite this, I remain committed to understanding and supporting people on their healing journeys, meeting them where they are. My story is a testament to perseverance and the power of empathy in making a positive difference in the world.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For day 1, we would take a trip from NC down to Myrtle Beach. After enjoying the weather and the water on the beach we would dive into one of Myrtle Beach’s renowned seafood buffets for a true coastal feast. Afterwards we would head to the boardwalks, On day 2, we would head over to Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach for an immersive underwater experience just to marvel at the colorful fish, majestic sharks, and playful sea turtles. Day 3-5 we would take a sightseeing tour of the sea on a cruise liner that offersa variety of foods and fun experiences. Day 6, we may take a tour through one of their historic museums and of course go shopping at one of there near by shopping centers or outlets. Day 7, we would head by home to NC.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I mainly dedicate my shout out to my former supervisor Ms. Regina Brown who supported and inspired me through the whole process of becoming a therapist. In addition, I honor and give a shout out to my grand mother Linnie Mae Berry who has significantly impacted my spiritual life and my decision to follow God!
