Hi Taj “Hazes”, how do you think about risk?
Risk is an essential ingredient in both life and business, particularly in the world of entrepreneurship. It’s through risk that we uncover opportunities, expand our horizons, and challenge ourselves to grow. Life itself is a series of calculated risks—each decision presents a chance to move closer to our goals or stumble along the way. The distinction between good and bad risks lies in preparation and analysis. By evaluating potential outcomes, considering alternatives, and trusting your instincts, you can take calculated risks that lead to progress. Moreover, stepping into uncharted territory forces you to leave your comfort zone, embrace uncertainty, and open doors to innovation and evolution that otherwise remain locked.

In my life and career, taking risks has been a driving force behind my achievements. Operating four businesses successfully required me to face uncertainty head-on and trust the process even when the outcomes weren’t guaranteed. Each venture began as an idea, often accompanied by doubt or external challenges, but I understood that without taking a leap of faith, growth was impossible. Risks allowed me to discover hidden strengths, build resilience, and develop strategies to navigate complex situations. These experiences not only shaped my career but also reinforced my belief that calculated risk-taking is the cornerstone of meaningful progress and lasting success.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the proud owner of multiple businesses that span industries such as event planning, media and marketing, non-profit work, and a clothing and design brand. What sets my businesses apart is that each one addresses a unique need or solves a specific problem for its audience. For instance, my event-planning business, Diamond Vice Inc., thrives on innovation, offering fresh and exciting themes while prioritizing attendee enjoyment and safety. My non-profit organization, The Mial Foundation, provides academic, financial, mental, and emotional support to the youth of Greensboro and Winston-Salem, NC, striving to uplift our future leaders. My luxury streetwear brand, Don Hamiir, is designed to empower individuals, combining style with a message of self-confidence and strength. Finally, my marketing and media agency, Seneca Visions Media, focuses on elevating small brands and helping them achieve their full potential through strategic promotion and creative solutions.

One of my proudest moments was being recognized by the city of Greensboro for the impact of The Mial Foundation. Receiving acknowledgment for the work we do in front of hundreds of people was a humbling and inspiring experience. This recognition reminded me that the hours of dedication, resilience, and effort are worth it when they result in meaningful change. My journey to where I am today has been far from easy. It has included sleepless nights, moments of doubt, and challenges that tested my resolve. However, what kept me grounded was my “why”—the purpose and passion driving me—and my ability to embrace the journey with all its highs and lows. Trusting the process has been a key lesson, as success is rarely linear but always worth the effort.

When all is said and done, I want my brand and businesses to be remembered for their positive impact and as sources of inspiration for others. My story is one of perseverance and vision, and I hope it motivates the next generation to dream bigger, work harder, and surpass their own expectations. I want people to see my journey as proof that with dedication, authenticity, and a clear purpose, they, too, can create something extraordinary and leave a lasting legacy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting North Carolina for a week, I’d plan an itinerary that showcases the state’s diverse culture, vibrant cities, and natural beauty while indulging in some incredible Italian cuisine. To kick things off, we’d spend the first day exploring Raleigh, starting with brunch at a local favorite, followed by a visit to the North Carolina Museum of Art. For dinner, I’d take them to Vivace, a modern Italian restaurant that serves amazing handmade pasta and rich desserts. The next day, we’d head to Durham to tour the Duke University campus and the Sarah P. Duke Gardens, then grab dinner at Pompieri Pizza for a casual but unforgettable Italian dining experience. To wrap up the day, we’d enjoy live music or catch a comedy show downtown.

Later in the week, we’d make our way to Charlotte, where we’d visit the U.S. National Whitewater Center for outdoor adventure and kayaking. After working up an appetite, we’d head to an Italian gem like Osteria LuCa for a comforting meal of wood-fired pizza and authentic antipasti. For a bit of relaxation, we’d take a day to explore Asheville, where we’d tour the iconic Biltmore Estate and spend the afternoon browsing the unique shops and galleries downtown. To end the trip on a high note, we’d enjoy the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains, taking in the breathtaking views while hiking or driving along the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. From savoring Italian cuisine to experiencing everything from art to adventure, the week would be a perfect blend of fun and relaxation.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Of course! I firmly believe in the known quote, “If you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together.” This philosophy has guided me throughout my journey, reminding me of the power of collaboration and support. My success is deeply rooted in the trust and dedication of my team. The employees who work alongside me are the backbone of my businesses, and their hard work, loyalty, and belief in my vision are what allow us to thrive. From brainstorming innovative ideas to executing projects with precision, their efforts play an integral role in turning dreams into reality. I am truly grateful for their trust in my leadership and their commitment to our shared goals.

Last, but certainly not least, my family deserves immense recognition for their role in my story. They are my motivation and my driving force. Everything I do—every late night, every tough decision—is inspired by my desire to create a better future for them. They’ve provided me with love, encouragement, and an unwavering belief in my potential, even during moments when I doubted myself. Their presence reminds me to push past my limitations and continue striving to be the best version of myself. My family is not only my foundation but also the reason I wake up every day with the determination to achieve greatness.
