We had the good fortune of connecting with Shevaun Poole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shevaun, what matters most to you?
Integrity: one of my main values is integrity, honesty, and ethical behavior in my business dealings. Building trust with customers, employees, and partners is crucial for long-term success.

Customer Focus: A customer-centric approach involves understanding and meeting the needs of customers. Satisfied customers are more likely to become repeat customers, which can contribute to positive word-of-mouth marketing.

Innovation: Embracing innovation and staying ahead of the competition is vital in today’s rapidly changing business environment. I tend to value innovation because it allows me to be more adaptable and better positioned to seize new opportunities.

Quality: Delivering high-quality products or services is a fundamental principle for many successful businesses. Maintaining a commitment to quality can lead to customer satisfaction, loyalty, and a positive brand reputation.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At Scruffy Dooz Grooming, we strive to make the grooming process as stress-free as possible for all pups. We specialize in one-on-one grooming, which allows the dog to be groomed at a slower pace and in a low-stress environment. I started this business with my business partner two years ago. We had an idea one night, and we wanted to not only help clients that have pups with anxiety but also give them peace of mind when their pups are in our hands. We have learned many lessons along the way, such as everything is not going to be perfect everytime, however we strive for perfection and we learn from our mistakes!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are many small businesses across the Durham region! First, we would definitely have to go to:

– Durham Escape Rooms. Their escape rooms are very technologically advanced, and it is a fun group activity!
– Riley’s pool bar if you wanted to have a couple games of pool as well as have a couple of drinks with your friends.
– Battle Axe is also another fun activity that can be done with friends!

There are some good chain restaurants around the Durham region, and there are also some good family-owned restaurants!
– Goldies is a great restaurant, particularly for brunch; they have flights for mimosas and cappuccinos.
– A nice chain restaurant with an incredible selection of sushi is called Makimono.
– Bollocks is a Whiby pub with a lovely staff and a variety of food options.
