We had the good fortune of connecting with Sheila Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sheila, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk involves uncertainty and the possibility of both favorable and unfavorable outcomes. Understanding and effectively managing risk is crucial for making informed decisions and minimizing possible negative impacts. A risk taker tends to be bold, adventurous, optimistic, and able to make decisions despite uncertainty for the sake of potential rewards.

In my personal and professional life, I have taken risks, leading to positive and negative consequences. Every calculated risk I take is like planting a seed of possibility. It may sprout into something beautiful and unexpected, a testament to my courage and adaptability. Even when the seed doesn’t bloom as envisioned, the soil of my experience is enriched, nourishing future endeavors. Risk is not just about reaching the destination, but about cultivating the fertile ground for growth. Calculated risks can lead to exciting opportunities and achievements that might not have been possible otherwise. I strongly feel that life would lack thrill and adventure if I avoided taking risks.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
To share about my art, I have to give you my chronic pain warrior backstory. For over twenty years, I struggled with chronic health issues including pain, anxiety, insomnia and depression. The over 20 medications I took daily provided only temporary relief while increasing fears of addiction. After endless ineffective treatments, I was desperate and skeptical when I learned of CBD oil. But within two days of trying it, I experienced unexpected relief from both physical and mental suffering. This breakthrough inspired me to start A House of Hemp, a CBD dispensary, to empower others silently suffering by sharing my hard-won knowledge.

A House of Hemp was more than a business; it was a sanctuary where those suffering could find support and discover roads to wellbeing rarely discussed. This was about sharing knowledge and understanding to empower people in reclaiming their health.

I’m not merely a chronic pain warrior; I’m an educator guiding people out of the darkness I escaped. My story shows that hardship can become a force for helping others.
My scars led me to throw rope ladders back into valleys, lifting up souls still surrounded by shadows. I shine a light so others can brighten their climb.

What I learned enabled me to provide hope and assist people putting their lives back together. The tools I use to help others rebuild their lives emerge from the hard-won lessons of my darkest days. I designed a program called “From Hurt to Hustle-Turning Setbacks into Six-Figure Comebacks”, based on the belief that our most difficult challenges can spur growth and meaning. The scars we wear aren’t just battle wounds, they’re blueprints to our future empire. Trauma, illness, abuse, and grief can feel like consuming flames, reducing us to ashes. But from these ashes, we can rise like a phoenix, stronger, more resilient, and with a unique perspective formed in the fires of hardship. Just as the mythical phoenix transforms its death into rebirth, we can transform our pain into purpose, our struggles into strength, and our tears into the molten gold of resilience.

Sharing my journey builds community, proving the resilience of the human spirit. By coming together, we can transform hurt into hope and lead each other to futures where pain gives us strength to rise, heal, and help. Our suffering equips us to become the warriors of our own stories.

Merging of the Stories

Embarking on the entrepreneurial journey with A House of Hemp was far from easy. It taught me that being an entrepreneur includes obstacles that test one’s perseverance and grit – from securing financing and handling relentless administrative tasks, to overcoming self-doubt when ventures stall. The path of turning vision into reality is paved with risks like giving up stable income, intensive work demands impairing personal lives, fears from taking calculated risks that don’t always pan out, and loneliness without an office community.

It’s a bumpy ride. The early days are a whirlwind of unknowns, pressure, and setbacks. It’s easy to get discouraged, to want to throw in the towel. But for the persistent ones, the ones who can roll with the punches, learn from their mistakes, and keep going even when it’s tough, the reward is immense. The satisfaction of building something from scratch, of being your own boss, outweighs the temporary hardships by a mile.

My entrepreneurial journey was filled with challenges, so I felt called to provide support and community for others facing similar hardships. I wanted to be an avenue of assistance however I could. I was in training with Dr. Tina Ramsay who is the owner of CTR Media Network, and she stated that a person could share their experiences and advocate for others beyond their local reach by starting a podcast. Soon after, she became my podcast coach and The Sheila C. Hill Show was born – a platform merging my entrepreneurial path and mental health experiences to offer support on an international scale.

The Sheila C. Hill Show is the ultimate podcast for ambitious individuals seeking to live more fulfilling and successful lives. Listeners gain valuable insights, expert tips, and inspiring stories to enhance their lifestyle, grow their business, and nurture their emotional wellbeing. Within an uplifting community of like-minded individuals, every episode delivers practical wisdom to help you improve various areas of life. My goal is to provide a supportive space where people feel empowered by shared experiences as they navigate the ups and downs of entrepreneurship and life.

I released my first podcast episode in April 2023 and within six months my podcast had dedicated listeners in over 14 countries! Wow, I was shocked, yet pleasantly surprised! Hosting a podcast has been tremendously rewarding and the array of advantages make me wish I had begun this medium much earlier to further amplify my messages. Hosting a podcast opens doors to diverse opportunities and far-reaching growth. As episodes stack up, your podcast establishes authority on chosen topics – making your voice trusted by enthusiasts in your field and expanding your base to avid followers worldwide. Podcasting allows for creativity in connecting authentically with audiences, conveying messages including through storytelling. Distributing freely online means being discoverable 24/7 to make an impact whenever someone tunes in. The flexibility of recording on your time means balancing content creation with life demands. Most importantly, a podcast becomes a powerful channel for purpose-driven hosts to disseminate ideas, shape opinions, offer solutions, address overlooked issues or underserved groups, and build community around meaningful discussions that wouldn’t happen otherwise. For me, it’s an avenue for leaving an indelible impact.
Through the twists and turns of self-discovery filled with both stumbles and milestones, I have finally landed upon the genuine joy and sense of purpose for which my soul has long been searching-Podcasting! It reminds me of a quote by Barbara Hall, “The path to your purpose is not always a straight one. You go down the wrong road, you get lost, you turn back. Maybe it doesn’t matter which road you embark on. Maybe what matters is that you embark.”

The freedom of being a podcast host is exhilarating, like a solo performance under the spotlight of your own audio stage. It’s a creative playground where you wear multiple hats, crafting stories, shaping conversations, and connecting with listeners on a deeper level.

As a podcast host, you get to dive into the minds of experts, authors, artists, and everyday heroes. Each conversation becomes a journey of discovery, unearthing hidden gems of knowledge, laughter, and inspiration. You get to be the bridge, the facilitator, the catalyst for meaningful connections and captivating exchanges.

Podcasts aren’t just one-way streets. We foster a sense of belonging, creating a virtual community around shared interests. Listeners become friends, confidantes, and fellow travelers on this sonic adventure. We get to build something special, a space where ideas flow, support thrives, and friendships blossom, all thanks to the power of our voice.

The freedom of being a podcast host is not just about self-expression, it’s about connection, impact, and leaving a legacy of sound. It’s a chance to share your passions, ignite imaginations, and build a community that transcends physical boundaries.

The role of a podcast host perfectly aligns with my talents and interests. I delight in engaging listeners through authentic conversations while crafting episodic journeys that inform and inspire. The creative freedom and far-reaching impact this modern medium enables energizes me.
