Hi Shailyn, what role has risk played in your life or career?
With risk, there is always uncertainty. You will never know what an outcome can be if you don’t take the leap of faith. Being an entrepreneur involves taking many risks. Starting La Belle’ Beauty Bar was a huge risk but I knew God wanted me to have faith and follow his lead. I had no idea where I would end up but I knew God would make a way for me. I took a risk creating a business that would actually be able to execute and deliver. I took a risk finding a building space that would allow me to operate with no previous financial history. I took a risk by expending ALL of my savings and personal finances knowing that I may lose everything in the process of building my business.
From the outside, it may look like I am living my best life but in all actuality, I was struggling tremendously. I worked 24/7 and didn’t get a single penny in return. I cried many nights and wanted to give up a lot. I kept wondering how I would make it through. If it wasn’t for God, I would have forfeited the blessings that came out of this.
Taking risks can be scary because you don’t know what the result will be. However, I would continue to take risks over and over again. If you don’t at least try to take a risk, how would you ever know if something could work out in your favor? That could be the very thing that changes your life for the better. It could be the very thing that is more than what you could have ever imagined. Take that risk especially if you have you don’t have anything to lose!
What should our readers know about your business?
La Belle’ Beauty Bar was created to help people feel and look BEAUTIFUL! We are a one-stop-shop that offers a plethora of natural and sensitive skin care products and services. We strive to exceed all of our clients expectations. We genuinely want them to look and feel their best! With our skincare products and services, we are able to tailor to all unique skin types. We offer services such as full body waxing, facials, massages, brow/lash services, and more! We also offer many natural skincare products and home goods.
I am truly blessed to be where I am today. This happened all because I took a risk. God showed me the blueprint and I took a leap of faith. I faced many obstacles and challenges throughout my journey. To the general, I may not seem qualified due to my age, lack of financial history and so forth. When I set my mind to things, I will do everything to attain it. No matter how many times I tried something and failed or received many no’s, I still kept going. I had faith that God would not lead me in the wrong direction. Till this day, he has not ONCE failed me. I learned to never give up no matter how hard things get because you can overcome anything!
I am so proud of how far La Belle’ Beauty Bar as come. We started out selling only beauty products. Now our one year anniversary is coming up to celebrate the opening of our brick and mortar. It has almost been a full year of being able to provide not only natural and sensitive skin care products but also quality services. Without each associate and each client, we wouldn’t be where we are today! As a team, we work as a collective to be able to create a lasting experience and provide quality services to each client that walks in and out of our doors. As we continue to grow, we will continue to add more quality services and products. We truly appreciate all the support from each of our clients.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
All of my friends know I love to have a good time and most importantly EAT! If my best friend was visiting, we would make sure to try a variety of food places. Some of my favorite restaurants in the area include:

I would love to shout out Will Wright. He is the Manager of Nordstrom located in Durham NC.
As a new business, Will gave me the opportunity to participate in the Buy Black Event at Nordstrom in August of 2022 and 2023. He put me in an amazing position to be able to share my brand with the world. I also got to network with amazing individuals and their businesses. Will has been so supportive of my entrepreneurial career and believes in my vision for La Belle’ Beauty Bar. I truly appreciate him as an individual and all that he has done to help me succeed.
