We had the good fortune of connecting with Scott McGregor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Scott, what do you attribute your success to?
I think that the most important factor behind my success are the relationships that I foster with my clients. I try my best to treat my clients with respect, care, and consideration. I treat them the same way that I would want someone to treat me or my family. When someone books you to capture a life event, they are trusting you with helping to preserve memories that last a lifetime. In that, people want to feel valued and not just like another number in the bunch. I have found that when you treat people in the best way possible, they tend to appreciate that, and will continue to seek you out going forward. Treat people like people and not numbers.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a published photographer/videographer specializing in portrait and event work. I started my business, Vision 6 Productions, as a means to express my creativity, while helping to capture people in the best way possible and to preserve memories for a lifetime. I have always considered myself to be a “creative”. Earlier in my life, I started in the space doing drawing, painting, and graphic design. My interest in photography really felt like a natural progression.

What sets me a part is that I approach each session with a level of care and consideration that I would want someone to provide for me or my family. I want people to say “wow” when looking at my images. With me, you know that you will have someone that will take time and consideration with what they are producing. I care that people are happy with their images, as opposed to someone that is all about compensation. At the end of the day, I treat my clients like people and do my best to provide the best product I can.

The media space is a very crowded space. It can be discouraging when you don’t have the large follower count or aren’t as popular as others. I have tried my best to make sure that I focus on continuing to better my craft as well as continuing to foster great relationships with my clients.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spot to grab some food is known as “spirits”. This is located slightly outside of Raleigh, in Cary, NC. The food is pretty simple, but is always fresh and done right, in my opinion. There is also Morgan Street food hall! This has a bunch of restaurant options as well as having a pretty nice environment for socializing. If someone is looking to shop, I recommend Crabtree valley mall and crossroads in Cary. Crabtree is the area’s premier shopping venue and crossroad is also a stable for anything you may need.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Wife. When I first shared my desire to get in this photography space, not only did she encourage me, but she also pushed me when I was dragging my feet. She bought me my first photography class AND my very first DSLR camera. I also have had a few friends that constantly encouraged and pushed me along the way. They supported me by helping me to practice when I was first learning. They also have supported me by becoming my real clients and continuing to share opportunities. I’ve always said that you really know who supports you when that support actually involves action. I would not be where I am without the love and support of these people. You know who you are!
