Meet Sarah Granahan | Energy Facilitator, Intuitive Coach & Hypnotherapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Granahan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born and raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. When I was very young, my father told me one day I was not feeling well, I had a “Vision” that no one else had witnessed or seen in the room he was in with me. I could tell he was fascinated by it and it wasn’t something that could be explained away. I attended primary school in the suburbs, then later went off to High School in Wilmette, IL. While in High School, I had another experience that was hard to explain, but this time I was old enough to remember what had happened. During this experience, it was the first time I had this knowingness and massive feeling of unconditional love wash all over me in an instant. It felt like a massive shift in the room, changing how I was feeling as it supported me in a way I had never felt again until after my awakening after college. This change in vibration and energy lasted for many moments once it started and I literally felt uplifted and shifted. I will never forget that experience. And it made me start wondering about religion, various belief systems, what love truly is, etc.
Now, these experiences didn’t happen too often but when they did, they left an imprint deep inside of me. I ended up moving to the big city and going to college at the University of Illinois at Chicago studying Anthropology – the study of ancient human cultures. Getting used to a big city, learning how to navigate the one-way streets and a spread out campus all by myself definitely left me with some grit. I originally thought I’d study English, but the appeal of learning about various indigenous groups, cultures, belief systems and the evolution of our human collective really spoke to me. Back then I was fascinated by health and medicine too, I even toyed with going into traditional medicine. But something told me I was searching for some other outcome for my life purpose.
I dove into learning more about the Shamans or Medicine Men and Women of groups all around the world. I began to wonder how people throughout history without our medical system, heal themselves? When I embarked on my path toward studying Energy Medicine/Healing after my massive awakening after college, I didn’t think that my studies in Anthropology would have been as fruitful for me. It wasn’t until years later after doing the work I do, I realize that it was all perfectly orchestrated. I needed to learn and understand diversity across human cultures as a platform for how I show up for clients in Energy Medicine. My sessions encompass so many believe systems, processes, histories, visions, etc that I am always learning and growing from them too. I now live in Raleigh, NC and own and run a Holistic Health & Wellness practice with many wonderful practitioners called – Color My Spirit Wellness. And I use my gifts of vision, intuition and empathy in my sessions since they are always with me, guiding me along to help support clients as they uncover more truths toward living their best lives.
What should our readers know about your business?
When I started out many years ago, the Energy Healing/Energy Faciliting field was not as accepted as it is today. Back then, we were met with alot of judgement and assumptions about how we support clients. If you know me or look at my photo, you can see that I am a very creative and colorful person. Many people would “assume” I just pranced around all day coping with life using alcohol and drugs – they would literally tell me that! This would make me laugh so hard because it was so far from the truth. I carry with me my experiences, my training and certifications and the profession I am learning and studying from all the time. When I was young, God had told me to stay away from using substances as coping mechanisms and to learn to connect to Spirit and Myself naturally. I usually tell people who make these sorts of assumptions – “you probably use more drugs than I do!” I mean, to each their own, but it’s ironic, isn’t it?
What I have loved witnessing is how much growth and education has happened in the Holistic Health field since I started many moons ago. I heard from my Guidance that “the floodgates were going to open” during the COVID pandemic and sure enough, they did. More people learned about self-care, wellness and the ability to support the physical, mental and emotional fields with these various modalities, which helped expand the consciousness so much. But ultimately, I got into doing what I do, even with all the judgement back then, because it worked so well for me. I knew that it would work for others too, so I kept my eyes and my heart on that outcome for everyone.
Today, the Wellness Center that I run is a conglomeration of providers who have various backgrounds in traditional training programs, then secondary education into their unique expertise and focuses. But we all come together with the same goals in mind – to support our clients in a heart-centered way so they can achieve the most growth and support on their journey toward healing and self-exploration. When I went out on my own and opened Color My Spirit Wellness back in 2020, my intention was to share the space with other providers but I didn’t advertise. I asked God to send the right people who had similar intentions in supporting the community – I call this Quantum Marketing. And then soon enough, the people began to arrive. We expanded last year, are refining more this year and have plans for growth in other areas too. It is a beautiful experience to Vision and Trust your goals and then watch them be brought to life – all for the Highest Good.
My success has been many years in the making and lots of trusting when logically it may not make sense to most people. Today, I am so honored to be apart of the Holistic Health Industry. It has definitely been leveled up the last couple of years as we are noticing referrals from other providers in the community. I am Blessed to be able to support and mentor the people I get to interact with and can’t wait to see how things continue to unfold…
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a bestie coming to visit us in Raleigh, NC, and the weather is nice, I love heading to Beaverdam Lake to sit by the water to commune with nature, cookout, head to their beach area or take our kayaks out on the water for some sunshine, peace and relaxation. Tuning in to water helps ease the emotional field. If there is time, I would build in time or tell them to check out the beaches we have on our coast which are not that far of a drive away. Places like Wilmington, Topsail and Surf City, NC. And a bonus for any time of year is driving to the Smoky and Blue Ridge Mountains to tube the waterfalls, hike, check out the wildlife, explore the beautiful mountain towns and watch the fall leaves change when it’s that time of year. The energy from the Smoky Mountains is incredible and I have seen so many rainbows by both mountain chains recently its like being in Hawaii!
As far as food goes, I would take my best friend to Chow Pizza Bar in North Raleigh for lunch or dinner. The manager there, Terry is always so accommodating and the staff is awesome. They have homemade food items on their menu and something for everyone. It has a relaxed atmosphere, super family-friendly and a great spot to head out and watch a sports game and get a drink too (if that’s your thing). Angus Barn is also an experience that some folks fly into town just to dine there. The atmosphere, their star menu and the experience of going there and sitting in one of their many dining rooms is booked often many weeks in advance. So this place would need to be planned pretty far out. We have some awesome breweries and wineries out this way too if we wanted a chill day or night out – ZincHouse Winery & Brewery and Mystic Farm & Distillery are awesome-sauce! Overall, we have lots of great food and drink experiences in Raleigh, Durham and the surrounding towns – there are actually too many to list!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be where I am today without some of my greatest mentors & teachers…To my mom – she’s one very strong woman, and she taught me how to get things done and how to be independent. I then worked for confident and strong women after college who showed me how they uniquely carry themselves, what they believe and how they run their ships. Michelle McKinney Hammond was the first boss I worked for who showed me how to own and run your own business. She is a talented creative and was a great example of how to follow your dreams and turn them into a reality. By supporting her and running her office for a few years, she indirectly taught me so much about the publishing world, speaking engagements, television shows and how to be strong and speak up for your needs.
Next, I worked for Heather Simpson, another strong boss who ran a team of fundraisers when I got into the humanitarian world. She showed me the balance of strength, kindness, finesse and unconditional love. Heather was the one who directed me toward Louise Hay’s book “You Can Heal Your Life” which ultimately changed my life. It also led me to the work I do today. Louise Hay was on my list to meet one day, I so badly wanted to work for her company out on the west coast, but God had other plans for me. Her life’s work resonated with me in a way no one else’s has ever touched me since it fueled me with massive self-love and understanding. I am thankful for her publishing company and what her work taught me.
I am thankful for my mentor in the Healing Touch Program, Karolyn Howard, for her unconditional love and teachings that I still use today. She also showed me how to run an amazing community outreach program. And to my business mentor, you know who you are… He encouraged me to get started in what I do – I won’t have started without your love and support – I love you, am so thankful and continue to think of you everyday. And finally to my family, who all support my comings and goings as I continue to support the local and worldwide communities and grow.
