We had the good fortune of connecting with Santana and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Santana, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
When taking a risk I literally just don’t think . No one ever knows if something will fall through positively or negatively ever but how will you ever know if you never take the chance and find out? I’m very big on if I want something I have to have it so anytime I’ve ever had a hobby , a hairstyle, a food, a skill a anything I’ve wanted to try I go for it, to at least see if I like it or don’t , if it might be for me or not. Of course I develop a plan to take on whatever new journey it may be but I approach all risk the same and jus go for it! It took many risk to get to where I am today and Tattoos are insanely permanent so me considering going into this industry was a risk in itself and I’m very glad I took it.

As a tattoo artist that is nearly 50% tattooed I’ve had lots of different experiences with many different artist all around the states and a lot of them weren’t well feeling either limited , uncomfortable, or just straight up unhappy and as a business owner you never want your client to feel any of those ways. With that being said I’ve always vouched to keep my passion alive as well as good customer service. I do all art forms (drawing, sculpting, painting, digital art , etc.) and I use all the tools from those to preform different tattoo techniques as a self taught tattoo artist tattooing all styles from traditional to realism , aesthetic , patchwork etc. I do it all leaving little to no limitations on my art and the pieces my clients get from me. In conclusion me being a true artist and having a passion to really make my clients happy I feel sets me apart from the rest. I’m most proud about how far I’ve came in general to just be 22 years old with a business that’s been running for about 4 years now I just feel truly blessed to even have a talent and make it this far and be able to provide for myself and family . My journey was no where near easy and I’m still on it ,still growing, I’ve been through many ups and downs lots of trials and errors and many risks , I’ve always kept my faith and belief in myself , succeed and fail with confidence and just know who and where I want to be and I constantly work towards that .
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I definitely am a party girl but for my hanging I love to get eat and I love good drinks! Raleigh times downtown or whiskey kitchen are definitely 2 of my favorite places. Being that I work late most days them being opened later in the night is super convenient. If I were going to Raleigh times after work with a few friends I’d grab the salmon entree because that’s what I ALWAYS get a good regular margarita and relax on the rooftop area it’s has good views cool lights and I love eating outside. If we don’t have the iris after grubbing maybe hitting peace and Saint downtown for some chill hookah vibes.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Throughout everything I can say I am BEYOND grateful for my family and all my clients I’ve met and tattooed along the way <3
