We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Strazanac and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Strazanac Solutions was actually created on accident. I originally formed the company to establish credibility and gain the trust of small and medium-sized businesses when offering marketing services. Initially, the companies I provided services for were hesitant to pay for my services as they saw my work more as a favor than a professional transaction. My father advised me to file an LLC and become a recognized business in the state in the expectation that this would show my clients that I was serious about my work, and not just someone performing these professional services as a favor to them. Once I became a recognized LLC in North Carolina, complete with a logo and website, my business experienced exponential growth. While my intention was not originally for this business to become my full-time career, I have no regrets about how things have unfolded.
What should our readers know about your business?
As a small business owner, I have faced numerous challenges in building my brand and establishing myself in the market. One of the biggest struggles I faced was financially staying afloat during slow periods of business. It was not easy to manage expenses while trying to generate revenue, and there were times when it felt like everything was falling apart. However, these tough times taught me important lessons about budgeting, cash flow management and finding creative solutions to keep my business running. I have also made a number of mistakes along the way, like hiring people who were not the right fit for the role or misreading potential clients. Every mistake was a learning experience that helped me grow and improve as a business owner and professional in my field. I learned to trust my instincts and make decisions based on what is best for my business in the long run, not just what “sounded good” at the time. Looking back, I am proud of how I have overcome these challenges and grown both personally and professionally.
My story is a mix of many failures and even more successes, but each experience has led me to where I am today. It was never easy, but it was worth it. Through hard work, determination and constantly learning from my mistakes, I have been able to build a successful business that I am proud of. My brand is a reflection of my journey and the lessons I have learned along the way. And while there may still be challenges ahead, I am confident in my ability to overcome them and continue growing as a business owner.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit me, I would make sure to ask them what they wanted to see and experience during their trip. Everyone has different interests and preferences, so I wouldn’t want to impose my own favorite places or activities on them. I would create a customized itinerary based on their preferences, making sure to include a mix of fun, interesting and exciting things to do. One thing I would want to make sure to do is take them to spots that every out of town guest must enjoy, like unique bars, eclectic sites and experiences that are rarely found outside my area. As far as specific local spots to the Triangle area, I would take them to the Krispy Kreme factory in Downtown Raleigh, the Museum of Life and Science in Durham, the North Carolina Museum of Art and depending on the time of year, the NC State Fair or the Chinese Lantern Festival in Cary.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It is crucial to acknowledge and give credit to my remarkable mother. Originally from Brazil, she came to the United States to pursue her medical training and build a life with her husband (a.k.a that genius father of mine who originally suggested I start Strazanac Solutions). During her residency and fellowship, she managed to juggle her medical career while also being a mother to my sister and me. Interestingly, on the first day of her fellowship, she unexpectedly gave birth to my sister instead of going at work – but the head of the department understood and let her slide on missing the first couple days.
After working for another medical practice, my mother realized that she had the capability to establish and run her own practice, following her own vision and ideals. She partnered with another physician who had a similar philosophy about what he wanted to see in a medical practice, and the rest, as they say, is history. Witnessing her dedication and countless hours spent building her business while still being fully engaged as a wife and mother of three fills me with immense pride. Her success serves as a constant inspiration for me to give my all and strive for excellence, aiming to become a “boss-babe” like her.
