We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Gallien and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

Ever since I was a young child I have loved everything artistic. I took many art classes throughout high school and instantly fell in love with creating acrylic paintings. I loved capturing memories for others through art and often found myself gifting my paintings. Friends and family loved seeing their special moments captured in a unique and artistic fashion and I realized that I wanted to spread my reach further. I began offering custom portraits and knew I absolutely loved capturing wedding moments. For a while I considered live wedding painting but wasn’t completely sure how to get started. I began practicing at home and eventually dove in. I have absolutely loved capturing these cherished moments while interacting with guests and am so thankful to get to do what I love and spread the gift of art; helping capture some of the happiest moments that can be passed down for a lifetime.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a live wedding painter I offer a unique service that captures some of a couple’s most cherished moments in an artistic style to be remembered for a lifetime. Paintings offer an artistic expression of the couple’s special day that captures their love story and wedding ambiance in a timeless keepsake. Seeing how much my paintings mean to my couples is why I love what I do so much. Getting started was one of the most challenging parts of beginning this journey. Along the way I learned to just dive in and avoid comparison to others. Art is meant to be unique and every artist has their own artistic style. It’s important to embrace your style and share your portfolio- your paintings and artistic style will speak for itself. As an artist I strive to ensure when my couples see their painting it brings them right back to that moment. I hope they see it and never forget the joy and love they shared with each other and their guests.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d have to start with a coffee shop- some of my favorites in town are Giddy Up or Blackbeard downtown where I spent many of my college days studying. Of course, if you know anything about Greenville, you know I’d have to stop by Sup Dogs for lunch and some of the local breweries downtown. During football season, it’s fun to tailgate and catch an ECU game at Dowdy Ficklen Stadium.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am so incredibly grateful to my friends and family who have always supported and encouraged me to share my art with others. As a small business, getting your name and work out to others can be a challenge but my friends and family have always been the first to share my work online and by word of mouth and for that I am so appreciative. A special shoutout to my cousin Kayleigh LeBlanc who specializes in web design and helped me customize the perfect website to showcase my portfolio and services.
