We had the good fortune of connecting with Riley Jordan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Riley, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting Riley Jordan Events was a natural step for me, driven by my passion for creating memorable experiences. Growing up in North Carolina, I was inspired by the joy of celebrations and realized I could combine my love for event planning with my background in hospitality.
I wanted to offer a personal touch that other organizations often overlook, ensuring each event feels unique to the client. My goal was to take the stress out of planning and help others celebrate life’s milestones in a way that truly reflects their style. This isn’t just about business; it’s about pursuing my passion and making a positive impact on my clients’ lives.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Riley Jordan Events focuses on relationships. I will always go the extra mile for my clients and vendors. Sometimes that looks like bringing a vendor a water when they busier than expected, printing an extra timeline for a vendor that messaged me that their printer was having problems, or sending a more detailed explanation to clients that are concerned about something.
I am most proud of the person I am in regards to how I treat my clients and vendors. I hear a lot of positive feedback on how I make others feel and how thoughtful my little touches are. I want everyone to feel better when they leave a meeting or event with me!
Owning my business has been a rollercoaster! Every day has its highs and lows. It has taught me to be patient and trust myself on this journey. It is incredible to see things starting to take place that I began working on and pouring into a year ago.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting the area for a week, I’d take them to some of my favorite spots. We’d visit the State Farmers Market, the Painted Tree Boutique in Cary, take a walk at the Ann and Jim Goodnight Museum Park at the North Carolina Museum of Art, and probably have dinner at the Raleigh Beer Garden!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to some amazing people and organizations that have really helped me along the way.
First, I have to thank my husband, Ben, for his support and encouragement. He patiently listens to many different ideas for my business and is always ready to do what he can to help my business grow.
And of course, my family and friends have always cheered me on and believed in my dreams. They often ask about my business, cheer on my successes, and offer guidance when needed.
A big thanks also goes to the Wake Tech Small Business Center and the Hospitality Management Program Professors. The mentors and professors were there to guide me through the steps of starting my business and offered so much helpful advice. I’m so grateful to everyone who has been part of my journey!
