Meet Rick Weber | Serial Entrepreneur, Pro Event DJ, and Youtuber

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rick Weber and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rick, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Risk taking is a necessary evil in life and in business. Risk is both something that you want to avoid or mitigate, but it is also essential to take risks to achieve your goals and ambitions. I find that when making decisions that have risk making pro and con lists and having discussions with those around you for input on the risk tend to allow you to take risk, but do it in a smart way that already has the worst outcomes and the best possible outcomes mapped out before taking the risks.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The vision I have crafted for all 3 of the businesses I own is “Creating memories that last a lifetime” in each of our businesses our main focus is in the over delivery of our customer experience. How can we surprise our customers, wow them, do something they didn’t expect that takes the experience to the next level.
In my businesses one thing I am super proud of is the culture we are creating with young staff. All of our staff is under 30. (I am the oldest at 29). Having what many business owners refer to as the lazy generation of staff is not the case here. We just created the culture and work environment that those of the age bracket thrive in. We don’t do 9 to 5, all employees are paid based on performance and it is a really relaxed schedule. But we have strict metrics and goals that hold everyone accountable to overachieving. We truly have the best young hustlers looking to work hard and enjoy the fun that comes with creating memories that last a life time.
Business wise is a super long journey honestly. But it started with creating a private event DJ company. Building that up while work a full time job, creating some spin off companies along the way. Diving head first into really understanding and putting into practice the things that make a business grow. Hiring more and more staff that then allow me to focus more on the business and less on working in the business. And that’s about it in the short version.
Oh my it was absolutely not easy. Many long nights, little sleep, stress, legal issues, employees (fire, quitting, hiring), employees wrecking company vehicles. Funding, capital.
I mean honestly I am incredibly thankful that I and my core team has had to go through so many challenging things together and experience so much at our young age that have put us in such a well rounded position for the future.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Not great on this lol so here are just things and places to go
Print Works
Green Valley
Pangia
Bourbon Bowl
Quarter
Bar hopping downtown greensboro on the weekend
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well a lot of people along the way helped craft and move in to different phases in the career.
I think from a parent prospective they used negative encouragement at a young age to in a way shape that if you have dreams and you want to do make them happen you have to have a 1% mindset and work effort. Dreams don’t just fall into your lap you have to work and push through all the negativity that comes with chasing you dreams from others that don’t think you will make it.
Once my business was really established I think a big shoutout needs to go to my business coaches. Gary Fly a close friend of my father in law was one of my first resources that recommended me to Mary Ann Hauser. Mary Ann is apart of the Action Coach business and her guidance and coaching pushed my businesses to grow 6x in just 4 years. I now use Mary Ann to coach my other managers and employees and I also have started to use Gary Fly for monthly mastermind work now that I have grown my business to the size of businesses that he coaches.
