We had the good fortune of connecting with Paul Bomar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paul, why did you pursue a creative career?
It’s all I’ve ever been good at, and all I’ve ever been passionate about. I feel the most alive when I’m being creative.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a jazz guitarist. I have an older sound. I love jazz from the late 50s/early 60s and I think it shows in my playing. It hasn’t been especially easy. I didn’t major in music and have little to no formal training. I can’t learn in classroom environments, so it’s been a long, painstaking process of being able to play this music. Because of this, I have somewhat of a unique sound.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to all of the tremendously talented musicians that I work with. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
