Meet Nicole Walker | Real Estate Agent, Educator, & Advocate

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole, what do you want your legacy to be?
My entire adult life seems to have added up to one goal. To leave behind not only a reputation of uplifting people around me, helping them achieve their goals, spreading knowledge for that purpose, and generally trying to help my community but also to leave behind the drive to do that in the people I’ve touched throughout my life.
We all have ripple effects in life. One action we take impacts someone else who impacts someone else, and so on. My growth has been centered around being deliberate about the effect I have on those around me and to better myself so that my ripples go further.
Quite often a large amount of our life is taken up by our careers. I was both lucky and deliberate in my choice of career. The luck came in because I never would have expected to be in a position to help hundreds of people find their new homes but once that opportunity arose, I invested so much into that.
Luck came in when I found myself with a company that fostered the culture around this idea of “only doing what only we can do” (True Homes USA). My deliberate action came in the relationships I’ve built and the families I’ve been able to assist. I regularly communicate via social media and email newsletters to thousands of people in my local community.
So now I’m making waves instead of ripples.
The luck came back into play when I realized that the opportunity I’ve been given (and earned) in my life has so much room to grow outside of my career. I’m able to impact my family, my local community, and I have plans to expand my impact outside of my local community and reach international opportunities as well. It’s a constant journey to build a legacy and one that I am proud to be on.
The journey started small and as a surprise to me, with a good friend recognizing that my natural abilities and need to help others could be put to good use on a larger scale. Personally I went from living well below the poverty line to a position of rarely having to be concerned financially about anything. I don’t believe that kind of growth happens in a vacuum, or that a person is unaffected by the growth. I also don’t believe it’s sustainable without a plan larger than oneself.
It’s as simple as lending a hand to help someone pick themselves up. And we all have something to give, most often it’s not financial help. Everyone is valuable and deserves the right to start their own journey towards their legacy. I hope that mine is to facilitate as many other journeys as I possibly can.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I work as a True Advisor at True Homes USA, the largest privately-owned residential homebuilder in NC & SC. That means I consult with clients from their initial appointment through closing on their new home. It includes identifying the best solution for their lifestyle and family, customizing the home to fit their needs, being financially prepared for the homebuying process, and what to expect in the build process/closing.
The company itself is like no other homebuilder I’m aware of with: semi-custom options, hundreds of floor plans, lifestyle changes, a heavy focus on client experience and quality, and intentionality around bringing affordable home solutions to underserved buyers.
What sets me apart specifically is the desire to build lasting relationships with the brokers, clients, trade partners, and community partners. Our entire team focuses on this, but it’s something that lends itself directly to the goals for my legacy. I also am able to service my relationships from a bilingual perspective, being that I speak Spanish.
I’m most proud of the community I’ve built around myself in the real estate industry!
There’s a quote I remember from my days at Keller Williams: “Success is simple, not easy.” That has definitely been true for me. The process has been very direct and simple in the long run, but it has not been easy. Lots of time given up in my work/life balance and a lot of faith that the financials would work out, but now I’m able to enjoy More Life with my position at True Homes and financial prosperity I never dreamed I could reach.
It was quite simply the people around me that enabled me to achieve this success. Without their support and belief in me, I never would have made it to this level of success.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There is SO much to do in the Raleigh/Durham area! We are known for an eclectic mix of food choices, micro-breweries, wineries, music, art, and more!
Favorite spots of mine would be: Downtown Durham with the parks, art, and food; the NC Art Museum and its beautiful park to walk in; Raven Rock Park closer to my home for a good hike; Boxcar for drinks and fun games; and all the small downtown areas in the towns surrounding Raleigh with their local small business and restaurants.
There are too many options to pick from!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I could not be where I am today without three family groups: my Personal Family, my Keller Williams Family, and my True Homes Family.
My bioloigcal (personal) family fostered so much love, desire to help others, and knowledge that I could achieve so much more than those who came before me. I would never have made the leaps I did without all of my extended family. I’ve been so lucky to have a large one with many members.
My first real estate family (Keller Williams Preferred in Raleigh, NC) and specifically Carolina Open Door Realty (my general brokerage team) were so important in training me to use my skills in the real estate industry and making connections to further my next steps.
My current work family (True Homes USA) took all the pieces, put together a stronger/better version of me, and supported me through sickness and health, financial growth and prosperity, and emotional battles in my personal life. My manager Brittni Muti and my job share partner Arielle Stratton have had a significant impact on my growth, change, and work/life balance!
