We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Rodeniser and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalie, what principle do you value most?
We run Lux & Lye LLC with the values of transparency, honesty, generosity, and community at the forefront of our actions. Every part of the daily aspects of our business must adhere to our values. We believe that upholding our values gives us an accountability system to ensure we are doing what is best not only for the growth of our business but for the benefit of those we have the honor of serving and interacting with. We build transparency and honesty through each of our products, making sure our packaging, marketing, and website give our customers the information they need to make a confident purchase. We have built generosity and community into our brand through our regular donations to several organizations we partner with as well as volunteering our time and products to those in need in our community.

 

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Lux & Lye LLC has been a labor of love in the making for the past five years. We operated under a different business name for the first four years and have seen so much growth since the re-brand last year. Growing a business from scratch, with no outside source of funding has given me the opportunity to slowly grow and fine-tune my brand without outside pressures. There have been challenges I have had to face and learn to overcome as I have grown with the business.

With all the challenges have come some amazing successes. The re-branding of the business has given me a new opportunity to restructure the way I run the brand. Focusing my energies on the values that matter the most to me. I have built-in ways for my business to give back to the community. With every sale, we set aside a portion of proceeds to go back into some amazing non-profits. The two we support the most are Western Youth Network and Eco-Soap Bank. We are proud to be able to care for those in our community and those abroad.

 

 

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The High Country, where Lux & Lye LLC is located, is a beautiful place to visit. Since we live in the mountains I would always suggest at least a few hikes. Linville, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, and Boone all have great places to see mountaintop views, and beautiful waterfalls and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. Plus if you are extra outdoorsy, there are great places to rock climb, fish, snowboard/ski, ride bikes, camp, and much more. As for food, you can’t go wrong with most of the local places in town! Whether in Boone, Blowing Rock, Wester Jefferson, or any other town in the High Country, you can be sure to find a great local place to enjoy a variety of foods. Some of my favorites are Cobo Sushi, Lost Province, Wildwood Community Market, and The Speckled Trout. Since all the towns in the High Country have a more small-town feel, you won’t see much of a vibrant night-life, but what you will experience is beautiful scenery, delicious food, and amazing community at any town you visit!

 

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people who have been major supports in the growth and success of my company. From the start, I have not done it alone! I have an amazing spouse who has been my rock since the beginning. I have a few business mentors as well as other small business friends who have been an amazing sounding board and have given me guidance as I have grown. I have an amazing graphic designer and photographer who helps take the creative load off of me so I can focus my energies on other aspects of the business. Plus I have an incredible community of customers who see the value in the products I craft, actively supporting and building up my success!
