Meet Morgan & Ally Elliston House | Co Founders

We had the good fortune of connecting with Morgan & Ally Elliston House and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Morgan & Ally, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
We mutually decided from the very beginning that we would focus most of our time, money, and efforts on social media and branding! This continues to remain a top priority for us. Instagram is how we are discovered, generate a sense of community, and convert sales to this day – and don’t see this changing anytime soon!
What should our readers know about your business?
Elliston House is a boutique textile and wallcovering design firm specializing in uniquely crafted and curated patterns produced in the Southeast. Our line is available to both end consumers and trade professionals at an approachable price point. We (Morgan & Ally) are the brand – all of the designs represent pieces of both of us, and are a direct reflection of our individual personalities. We are passionate about color and pattern, and creating a home that exudes quality design and style, even with young kids running around with sticky fingers and dogs with wet paws! We’ve gotten to where we are today by dumping our creativity into our work, focusing on social media and branding, and relying on the support of others who have gone before us! We continue to learn new things every day and overcome challenges weekly, and that’s what makes this business so engaging and fulfilling! Failing fast and failing often gets us one step closer to the next big thing. A constant reminder we tell ourselves is to remember to work ON the business, not IN the business, which can be tricky to do when you are handling everything yourself!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If our best friend was visiting Greensboro, we’d take them to grab a quick AM coffee at Union before hitting the Science Center in the morning with our kiddos. We’d grab lunch at Lindley Park Filling Station. Then we’d pop into various parks around town, like Johnson Park, LeBauer Park, and Country Park. After that, we’d find a babysitter and go out for an adult evening. Our first stop would be Neighbors for a cocktail and some pink deviled eggs. Then, we’d head to see our friends at 1618 Midtown for the ultimate smash burgers and fries paired with an exceptional glass of wine. That’s pretty much our perfect day!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We’d love to Shoutout the obvious: our husbands, extended family, and friends! Their endless support and encouragement has meant so, so much to us as we’ve navigated the rollercoaster of emotions that come with building a business from scratch. We’d also like to Shoutout Beth Sink of Claude & Coy Interiors – Morgan worked for her for about a year just before we started Elliston House and gleaned so much knowledge from Beth about the interiors industry. Beth is incredibly talented and her design aesthetic (a mix of traditional and modern, a little bit of this and that, maximalism at it’s finest!) has had a strong influence on Morgan and, therefore, Elliston House!
