We had the good fortune of connecting with Monika Christopher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monika, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is the passion I have for making food people enjoy. Secondly, I would also add my daughter is also an important factor as well because she gives me motivation .

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart from others is I love to cook even if I didn’t go into business.
As far as how I got where I am, it took hard work. It will also continue to take more hard work in an effort to expand the brand. This year we advertised more on social media and ran more campaigns also. Really just trying to expand the digital imprint of the company.
As far as what I want the world to know is that we are here to stay and look for us in the stores very spp. Also. We won’t stop until Mama Irie is a household brand .

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are a few places we frequent in the area:

1. Ice cream factory has the great treats and vegan ice cream also.

2. Burrito Shack and Yumi has great wraps…..

3. And of course you gotta see Mama Iries Kitchen for all goodness too..Our popular items are the sweet potatoe cornbread muffin, bliss fusion ,and any of our punches

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would definitely say family because they are my support system . They are always on the front line with me. We do pop ups together and most times they are somewhere around the kitchen also when I’m making dishes or coming up with new recipes.
