Meet Mavrick Vo | Actor & Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mavrick Vo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mavrick, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process of creating Ronin Reels Studios was to create an opportunity where we create a lot of independent films in the genre of action, horror, and fan films locally in North Carolina. I wanted to create a business where a lot of actors and film crew have the opportunity to work and get their reels and overall create a community full of entertainment such as big film productions that are located in LA and Atlanta!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a local actor in North Carolina working my ways to work with other big productions such as LA and Atlanta but most of my time over 4 years as a actor / stunt actor I have been acting for local independent film productions in North Carolina. I am also the founder of Ronin Reels Studios where we create action, horror, and fan films. Working as a independent filmmaker we face a lot of challenges. Which one of those challenges is film budget. Creating a high production film is very expensive but how we overcome it is using connections / props / costumes that we already have and we recreate it or redesign it to save our budget and build it up for the next film project. The lessons we learned along the way to make a successful film company is by being consist to your craft and advertise through social media as much as you can in order to get the views and the connections we can get to build a bigger team for our film company.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For me I am a gamer, I love playing video games and definitely the best spot is at BoxCar. It’s a adult bar that is filled with lots of arcade to play with family and friends to bring!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wanna give a big shoutout to three people that impact / help my journey to create a successful film production which the first person is my best friend that I consider my big brother and he is the stunt coordinator & sound editor of Ronin Reels, Shaun Townsend. The Second person who is in our team and social media manager which I consider her my big sister, Imani Chew. Third person, my beautiful girlfriend, Lilyvette Acevedo, which is another social media manager and have helped and motivated me with ideas to create short horror films for Ronin Reels Studio.
