We had the good fortune of connecting with Maverick Rose and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maverick, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always been an independent thinker. I believe starting my own business was a natural progression for me. As someone who tends to think outside the box, it made sense to blaze my own trail rather than force myself into someone else’s preconceived notion of success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It’s been an interesting path to success for me. I’ve been told “no” a lot. I’ve always been different. And as someone who is a bit unorthodox you might think the entertainment industry would be a good fit and in many ways you’d be right. But, the entertainment industry is still an industry. It’s not called show friends, it’s show business and people want to bet on a sure thing. It all comes down to return on investment. Thankfully I have a decent business head on my shoulders and have learned to market what makes me unique. Over the years I’ve blazed a path outside of the normal avenues and made a good living doing it. In the last year, I won artist of the year in a local readers’ choice contest, started DJing my own radio show and had a book of my poetry published. Hopefully 2024 will see even more expansion of my brand.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Raleigh continually shows up on the best places to live lists for a reason. It’s the perfect balance between small town charm and big city night life. Absolutely must dos while in town would have to include, visiting the North Carolina Museum of Art, eating dinner at Char-Grill, followed by desert at Krispy Kreme or Goodberry’s Frozen Custard then taking in a concert at The Lincoln Theatre. If time allowed a short trip down highway 70 to the original state capitol of New Bern lends itself to excellent historical sights, exceptional food, music and southern hospitality by the spoonful.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My biggest inspiration would have to be my uncle, Jeff. Time and again he has shown me by example what it means to not just be a man, but a good man. To always give 100 percent and go the extra mile.
