Meet Marquita Clark | Founder & CEO of MAQ Mentoring

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marquita Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marquita, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was driven by a profound desire to support and uplift young girls. As a substitute teacher, I observed the varied challenges they faced, and it became clear to me that while some had a strong support system, others did not. This inequality troubled me deeply and served as the catalyst for my mission.
I am passionate about instilling in girls the belief that together, we can overcome any obstacle. That’s why I’ve adopted the mantra #wedothistogetHER. It encapsulates the essence of my vision: to teach girls from a young age that we are stronger when we lift each other up, supporting and encouraging one another along the way.
Through my business, I aim to empower girls to realize their full potential, regardless of their circumstances. By fostering a culture of solidarity and mutual support, I hope to make a lasting impact on the lives of girls and contribute to a more inclusive and compassionate society. Together, we can make a difference, one girl at a time. #wedothistogetHER
What should our readers know about your business?
Thank you for the opportunity to share more about my business. At its core, our business is dedicated to empowering and uplifting young girls. What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of support and empowerment, encapsulated in our motto #wedothistogetHER. We prioritize creating a safe and nurturing environment where girls can thrive and realize their full potential.
One aspect I am particularly proud of is our holistic approach to empowerment, which goes beyond traditional education to encompass mentorship, personal development, and community engagement. We believe in equipping girls with the tools and resources they need to navigate life’s challenges and pursue their dreams with confidence and resilience.
Our journey to where we are today has been filled with challenges, setbacks, and triumphs. It certainly hasn’t been easy, but each obstacle has been an opportunity for growth and learning. We’ve overcome challenges by staying true to our mission, remaining adaptable, and seeking guidance and support from mentors and our community.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned along the way is the power of perseverance and resilience. Building a business from the ground up requires dedication, hard work, and the ability to adapt to change. I’ve also learned the importance of surrounding myself with a supportive team and seeking mentorship from those who have walked a similar path.
What I want the world to know about our brand and story is that it’s rooted in passion, purpose, and a deep-seated belief in the potential of every girl. Our goal is not just to empower individual girls, but to inspire a movement of collective empowerment and support. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of girls and create a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d aim to show them the best time ever with a mix of creative and culinary adventures. As a simple lady who doesn’t get out much due to being in the young stages of my business, I’d plan a week-long itinerary that includes a cook-off inspired by the show “Chopped,” a sip and paint session, and a visit to the farmers market in Durham. We’d also attend services at my church in Garner, Greater Word Of Truth, under the leadership of my Apostle and coach Freida Henderson. Throughout the week, we’d enjoy cozy dinners, brunches at local cafes, crafting sessions, and leisurely strolls through parks, culminating in a week filled with laughter, exploration, and cherished memories.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Of course, I’d like to give a special shoutout to some key people who have been instrumental in my journey. Firstly, I want to express my gratitude to God for His unwavering guidance and blessings throughout this endeavor.
Secondly, I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to my incredible team. Their dedication, hard work, and unwavering support have been the backbone of our success.
I also want to acknowledge the unwavering support of my mom, brother and sisters. They have been by my side since the early days when this venture was just a hobby. Their encouragement, love, and belief in me have been invaluable every step of the way
I am truly grateful to each and every one of these individuals for their unwavering support, encouragement, and belief in me and our mission.

Programs such as this are badly needed but young ladies right now. As a teen or pre-teen girls need the right guidance and support. Thanks Markita for your vision and your passion.
