Meet Marcey Rader | Productivity Speaker, Author, and Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcey Rader and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marcey, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
As the owner of a health-powered productivity company, companies hire us to help create work-life balance in their companies. To me, what feels balanced to one person may feel very different to another. For many of my corporate clients who work regular Monday-Friday jobs, our goal is not to have them working in the evenings after their kids go to bed or on the weekends. They often say this is the only time they can work because they have so many meetings during the day. This isn’t balanced. For business-owning clients, balance is more about the flexibility of their days and times. For me, it means working on a Saturday or Sunday morning because I took most of the afternoon off during the week to run errands, go on a hike with a friend, or hang out with my husband. It’s deciding that I want to work 7-2 one day and 10-5 another. It’s about feeling in control of my workload and my time.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At RaderCo, we provide health-powered productivity consulting, coaching, speaking, and training. We solve the problems of burnout and being overwhelmed by never-ending task lists, over-filled calendars, constant notifications, and insane workloads. We care about more than just making you more efficient. We want you to do it in a healthy way. Consider us the Bruce Banner to your inner Hulk!
A decade ago, I was a passionate newbie with zero business experience but a zest for learning. Courses? Signed up. Books? Devoured. Coaches? You bet! Along this adventure, I’ve dipped my toes in various business waters, experimented with marketing magic, and now wear the hat of an “accidental business coach.” I’ve gathered enough wisdom and street cred to guide other business owners on stuff not strictly in the productivity playbook.
Every superhero has their kryptonite. First, I shelled out a small fortune seven years ago to launch a video course. Except, spoiler alert: no one knew who I was, so let’s just say my ‘make money while you sleep’ dream was more of a catnap. Next, I invested a cool $10k in PR, hoping to be the next media darling. The result? One—yep, just one—local TV segment. Ouch! Not the best ROI.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When friends come to town, we kickstart our energy levels with a hike in Umstead State Park—nature’s very own reboot button. Then, we head to Mookie’s New York Deli, where you’ve got to try Marcey’s Crispy Brussels Sprouts (named after yours truly, thank you very much!). Post-lunch, we take a cultural stroll from the North Carolina Museum of Art all the way to Lucky Tree Coffee. In the evening, we catch some live tunes at either King’s or the Pour House. And, of course, we wind down on my back deck, playing games around the fire pit and chilling under our majestic oak tree.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
