We had the good fortune of connecting with MacKenzie Joyner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi MacKenzie, how do you think about risk?
I do believe the right risk will change your life for the better. It can be scary taking such big risk but that’s what life is all about. I don’t know if I would be doing what I am today if I didn’t take the risk. The thing about risk is sometimes you may fail but when you succeed it makes it worth so much more. I had to fail in some situations to lead me where I was meant to be.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets me apart from others is my passion and creativity. I love what I do so much that if I was rich I’d probably do it for free that’s how passionate I am. My creativity because it has no limits I often test myself each time I do a new look or a new skill. I was able to get where I am today because I took a risk. I believed in myself so much that I made it possible. Was it easy ? No, it wasn’t I wanted to give up multiple times but my faith wouldn’t let me. I prayed my way through every failure and leaned on loved ones to uplift me. The lesson I learned along the way is be patient, have faith, and trust god’s timing. I want the world to know that my business is a one stop glam shop who is often expanding. The brand is called “The Glam Trap Beauty Lounge.” I dedicated my business name to my brother who I loved deeply who is no longer here to cheer me on. He was a man of many talents as well and could sell you the shirt off his back if you’d let him. I followed his footsteps when it came to hustling.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The thing about living in a small city it’s not but so much to do or even eat so I often tend to cook at home and enjoy time with family.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My support system motivated me so much throughout my journey. I’m so thankful for the people I have in my life who pushed me to succeed no matter how many times I wanted to give up. I would like to shoutout my loving mother who was always pushing me and reminding me I’m more than capable. My boyfriend who pushed me to always take the risk and never give up. My grandparents who helped me study and encouraged me along the way. To my brother cheering me on from heaven thank you for paving the way for me.
