Meet Lynn Woods | Owner and Rhinestone Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lynn Woods and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lynn, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Prayer. I pray about my business each day and ask God to guide me on this entrepreneurial journey. Owning a business is hard and you definitely have days when you are discouraged. Praying and asking God to guide me is a BIG part of my business. Opportunities have been opened up because of Him that I never would have dreamed. I re-read my favorite Bible verse quite often, which is Jeremiah 29:11.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a Rhinestone Artist, I add rhinestones to items to turn them into a beautiful piece of art , that anyone would love! At Back to the South Bling, the tagline is, “Every girl deserves to sparkle,” which we take to heart. Growing up and seeing women not be there true selves and diminishing their light so that others would shine, always made me sad. My products are created with those women in behind. If you are drinking from one of our bling cups, writing with one of our bling pens, or wearing one of our bling shirts, there is absolutely no way you can hide or not be seen. We want all women to be proud of who they are and to unapologetically be themselves!
I’ve been on a long entrepreneurial journey. I started my first business at 12 years old. I sold hair bows that I made at local beauty salons. This has definitely not been an easy journey, but I am glad that I have stayed the course because it is so rewarding.
There are so many lessons I’ve learned, but 3 of the most important ones to me are, Your product or service isn’t for everyone and that’s okay. Always remember the value that my products bring and price accordingly, remember why you started your business.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were coming to visit, there are favorites in Raleigh, NC and Durham, NC that we would go. On Sunday we’d definitely have to go to Stir (Raleigh, NC) for their amazing brunch! We’d have to go to The Velvet Hippo (Durham, NC) for happy hour on the rooftop and get in a slush or two at The Slush (Durham, NC).
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Echo deserves a big shoutout! When I joined their entrepreneur program, I couldn’t have imagined how much my business would change for the better! They helped me put the business part (that most of us creatives do not like) into my business. Their support, encouragement, and mentorship has been priceless! If you are in Raleigh or are in Dirham, I HIGHLY recommend that you look into their program.
My husband and my sister, Andrea, also deserve a shoutout. They listen when I need to vent, offer words of encouragement, and never allow me to quit on days when I feel like throwing in the towel.
