We had the good fortune of connecting with Lluvia Phillips and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lluvia, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Its important to take educated risks as long as you have a goal and plan in mind.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our studio provides a beautiful and unique space for one of a kind luxurious photography experience. What sets us apart is providing an experience that includes a well curated wardrobe for the entire family, luxury maternity gowns, unique newborn headbands and props. Our photography style is timeless, elegant, and fashionable. I got to this point professionally with several long nights and constant dedication ensuring every client has that unique experience that we strive for. This process is not an easy process. We have encountered challenges along the way but have been able to overcome these with hardwork and staying focused on my main goal which was to open my commercial studio space. The lessons i have learned so far are to get rid of imposter syndrome to never lose focus of my main goals and to continue to evolve my art. I want the world to know that hard work pays off and to never lose sight of your goals.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My good friend and photographer Maeta Avery, just visited from Minnesota. During her visit we started at Cars and Coffee Morrisville and went to Morgan Street Food Hall. She got to try her first sushi borrito from YoHo Hibachi & Sushi Burrito, had a delicious thai bowl from The Bowls, and empanadas from Makus Empanadas. We also walked around downtown Raleigh where i was able to show her the cool architecture, parks, and Raleigh Union Station. We visited my favorite sushi place called Sushi at the Park in Cary, and also visited my favorite mexican seafood restaurant called Mariscos Nayarit where they have live music, I then took her to my favorite asian market which is H Mart where we got delicious food at the food court and amazing pastries from the bakery. During her visit we also went to the Outer Banks where we were able to drive on the beach and see beautiful wild horses. On our way back from the Outer Banks she got to try North Carolina famous Bojangles chicken and there perfect honey mustard sauce. We also stopped at one of the best North Carolina BBQ spots Wilbers in Goldsboro.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband has helped me tremendously and has believed in me from the start. Seven years ago I watched a photographer do my sons newborn photos, that day is when I told my husband that i wanted to pursue newborn photography and this amazing journey began. My husband has helped me in many ways including setting up the studio, emotional support, and helping me balance motherhood and entrepreneurship.
