We had the good fortune of connecting with Lizzie Post and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lizzie, how do you think about risk?

Last June, my husband and I took on one of the biggest risks. We left our small town on the New Jersey shore and ventured to Raleigh, marking the first time I had ever been more than 15 minutes away from my tight-knit family. It was nerve-racking to leave behind my established clientele, but I knew that new opportunities awaited us, particularly in Cary at Sunday Salon. My career is taking off beyond my wildest dreams. I now find myself in a position where I can make the hair dreams of new clients come true.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Since I was young, I’ve always known that I wanted to be a hairstylist. However, it turned out to be more challenging than I had initially anticipated, serving as a wake-up call for me to truly define my career aspirations. Determined to succeed, I remained focused and dedicated, honing my skills in hair color, styles, and extensions, ensuring that I would carve my own path in this industry. Now, after 15 years as a hairstylist, I can confidently say that choosing this career has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. In late 2022, I faced personal hardships that required me to refocus my energy. It was during this time that I refocused my energy in education and took up the role of mentoring new stylists at the salon. This experience gave me a new passion for my craft and made me a better stylist.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my bestie were in town for the weekend, we would kick off our day with a visit to the farmers market. After that, we would explore downtown Raleigh. Of course, we can’t pass up the chance to grab a bite at Coquette and spend some time checking out the shops in North Hills.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Two individuals truly stand out in my life. Firstly, my husband Zach, with his unwavering support and loyalty. No matter the circumstances, I can always rely on him to have my back. His advice is impartial, consistently guiding me towards the right path. Secondly, my mom, who instills unwavering belief in me. She constantly encourages me to explore new opportunities and strive for excellence, particularly in my career. Their presence in my life is truly invaluable.
