We had the good fortune of connecting with Leah Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leah, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success—and the success of Savvy Financial—has been genuine connection combined with innovative strategy. I’m not a one-size-fits-all planner. I design outside-the-box financial strategies that align with each client’s unique goals, values, and lifestyle. That means looking beyond traditional stock portfolios to incorporate tax efficiency, velocity of money, and creative planning tools that most people haven’t been exposed to.

At the core, though, it’s about trust and transparency. I show up with empathy, I listen without judgment, and I empower people through education. Clients feel seen, heard, and understood—and that creates real impact.

My success is also rooted in perseverance. I’ve rebuilt my life from scratch, and I’ve seen firsthand how proper planning changes the trajectory of entire families. I bring that experience and passion into every conversation, and I think people connect with that authenticity.

What should our readers know about your business?
Savvy Financial is a financial planning firm rooted in the belief that money is a tool to help you live a more intentional, fulfilling life. We specialize in designing outside-the-box, tax-efficient strategies that go beyond just growing wealth—we help clients create freedom, flexibility, and peace of mind. What sets us apart is our ability to connect all the pieces: cash flow, tax planning, investment strategy, protection, and legacy building, in a way that aligns with each person’s values and goals.

What I’m most proud of is the trust we’ve earned from clients who want more than just numbers—they want clarity, partnership, and strategy that fits their life. I’m excited every day by the opportunity to help people make empowered decisions and build lives they love—both now and for the future.

Getting here wasn’t easy. After my divorce, I had to completely rebuild—from debt, self-doubt, and survival mode. Then I lost my older brother, Matthew, who had planned so thoroughly that his wife and daughters were financially secure even after his passing. That moment changed everything for me. It showed me that preparation isn’t just about numbers—it’s about love, responsibility, and making sure the people you care about are protected no matter what.

Along the way, I’ve learned that success isn’t just about the destination—it’s about the journey. The setbacks, lessons, and small wins all shape you and prepare you for what’s ahead. They teach you how to lead, how to serve, and how to show up for others with empathy and purpose.

What I want people to know about me and Savvy Financial is that we’re not just here to grow wealth—we’re here to help you build a life you’re proud of. A life that’s designed with intention, protected with strategy, and experienced with joy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Activities would include a visit to the U.S. National Whitewater Center for some outdoor adventure, a scenic walk around The Bowl in Ballantyne—especially lively on weekends with pop-up vendors and events—and a stop at the beautiful Duke Mansion for afternoon tea and the perfect photo backdrop. We’d enjoy pastries and lattes at Sunflour Café in Ballantyne, take a boat ride on Lake Wylie to soak in the water views and unwind, and spend an evening at Anne Springs Close Greenway listening to live music with drinks and light bites from The Canteena. We’d definitely plan to attend one of the incredible women’s events happening in Charlotte that week—there’s always something inspiring going on. For dinner, we’d make reservations at Restoration Hardware’s rooftop restaurant in SouthPark for the ambiance, and also include The Oak Steakhouse or Steak 48 for a luxurious evening out. To balance it all out, I’d throw in a RockBox workout or a yoga class with one of my favorite local instructors to keep us feeling energized and refreshed.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people who have played an important role in my journey, and I’m beyond grateful for their support. Early in my career, Dean Diamond was a boss and mentor who believed in me before I had accomplished anything of significance. He saw potential in me when I was still finding my footing, and that belief made a lasting impact on my confidence and drive.

I’ve also been incredibly inspired by Judy Hoberman, a trailblazer for women in finance. Her leadership, coaching, and authenticity showed me that you don’t have to compromise who you are to be successful—you just have to be brave enough to lead as yourself. She helped shape the way I show up for other women in this field.

Of course, my journey would not be possible without the unwavering support of my mom, who was a rock through every chapter of life. Her love, strength, and encouragement gave me the foundation I needed to pursue my goals. And my husband, who has stood beside me through all the ups and downs of building a business, parenting, and everything in between—his belief in me and willingness to walk this path together means more than words can say.

Finally, I’ve been lifted and empowered by a powerful circle of fellow female business owners who have cheered me on, offered guidance, and reminded me I’m not alone. Their community and collaboration have been one of the greatest gifts of my career.
