We had the good fortune of connecting with Latisha ‘Tish ‘ Summers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Latisha ‘Tish ‘, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
My background and upbringing had a significant impact on not only my life’s decisions, hailing from the Murchison Rd/ Jasper St neighborhood I attribute my success to the values, morals, ethics, and importance placed on education, philanthropy, and love for community by my parents Mr. Theophilus & Mrs. Bedelhia Ferguson. Raised in a strict Christian household, the oldest of 4 girls, my parents instilled self respect, hard work, discipline and a passion for greatness in each of us. The importance of education has always been emphasized since early on. I am the proud graduate of EESmithSHS, Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville Technical Community College, and The Toni Love Hair Loss Training Ctr. Upon graduation, not only was I student body president, I also graduated as an Ambassadors Scholar while maintaining a stellar GPA. I have always loved working with people, and have spearheaded many organizations throughout my schooling.
As a young adult, I quickly learned the impact of how negative choices and decisions would impact my future and the goals I had worked so hard to achieve. I accumulated an arrest record, several brushes with the law, and quickly found myself on the wrong track. With countless prayers, faith, discipline, diligence, and consistency not only was I able to get my life together, I have exceeded my own expectations.
As the CEO of Diva Enterprises LLC, Shear Diva Designz, Divas Delights Cordials& Catering, The Mo’Grow Hair Fertilizing System, The Tish Summers Mentorship Academy and The Latisha Monique Collection brands I have set the bar for excellence in all endeavors I embark upon. Not only am I the first African American woman to own their own faux loc hair line, I also have created an 8 product Hair Fertilizing System that is growing rapidly and combatting hair loss. As a certified hair loss replacement , I have found passion in treating alopecia, and it’s effects on the members of my community. Not only am I a philanthropist , community activist, and child advocate, I am also extremely passionate about combatting homelessness in my community.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work as a celebrity masterstylist featured in national magazines over 40 times, and my billboards can be seen all of the country. I am so proud of the achievements my brand has . The biggest lesson I have learned is to have faith in your self and your abilities.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Fayetteville area is full of amazing entrepreneurs with fantastic establishments . I am very pleased at the growth and development of our downtown area which boasts an array of specialty shops, bars, and delicious eateries which is sure to please the out of town visitor.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my Murchison Rd family who have been so supportive and encouraging throughout my career. I would also like to shoutout my family, who have always believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. Being an inspiration to the youth of my community is an honor that I don’t take lightly.
