Meet Kyndall Owens | Visual Artist & Paint Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyndall Owens and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kyndall, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
In 2017 I had a family reunion and brought my artwork to show off to my relatives. My family was so impressed with my work that they even asked if they could purchase my paintings. I originally brought my artwork intending to only share it with them so I was definitely shocked that they were interested in purchasing my work! It was a great feeling to see the joy my art brought to my family and I had the realization to turn this passion for creating into a business. After I sold my first painting in 2017, I have been staying booked and busy attending markets and vendor events to expand my audience. Seeing the joy that my God-given talent brings to others is the greatest reward and that is why I started my Kreativityyy business.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a very versatile artist not only in the concepts that I create but also in the services I provide. Conceptually, I love painting different subjects such as animals, landscapes, portraits, and a variety of different themes. Along with creating original artwork, I also host paint classes and perform live paintings. I offer these additional services because of my passion for community and bringing joy to others. I think it is in my versatility that sets me apart from others. Additionally, I have a strong passion for creating. Through consistency and diligence, I have made it to where I am professionally. I wouldn’t say it was easy, however, I would say it has been fun to learn then and now how to go about managing my art business. I’ve had plenty of challenges along the way, too many to explain. However, I am grateful for these challenges because they have taught me how to be a better business owner. What I want the world to know about my me and my brand is that I did not just wake up one day and become a successful entrepreneur, instead, I studied, I worked hard, I networked, I pushed, and I am still pushing today. I am doing this to become the best that I can be so that way I can help others to do the same.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was coming to town I would take them to all of my favorite places in and around Downtown Raleigh such as art museums like NCMA and galleries such as Good Trip Gallery, and parks like Dorothea Dix Park, and my own apartment which has a beautiful skyline view of the city and a pool on the rooftop. I also would invite them to come out to different events that I would be vending at. For food, we could go to the Rye at the Marriot and get veggie burgers and drinks! Other than that, we could just chill for the most part because if I’m not out and about attending vendor markets, I’ll likely be in my apartment watching movies and relaxing. We could even sit and look at my new fish aquarium all day. That’s one of my favorite things to do!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I don’t have one particular person or group to shoutout. Rather, I have my entire family to shoutout! My family is a big reason for all of my entrepreneurial successes. Specifically, I’d like to shoutout my mom who has helped me in a tremendous way such as with interviews like this and helping with creating business proposals and all the extra logistics that go with being an entrepreneur. I’d like to shoutout my dad for always pushing me to be the best I can be and providing me with constructive criticism so that I can always improve. I’d like to shoutout my brother and sister for always being there for me no matter what and just showing up. My extended family as well, like my grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins, I want to shout them out for staying up to date with me and showing love on my social media posts. My family has had a big impact on my successes through their continuous support and love. And now that I talked about my family I can’t forget to shoutout my art friends such as Mali, Christopher, Tiffy, Cass, and many more! My friends have been so supportive and so helpful as we are all in a similar field and are able to learn off of each other! All in all, big shoutout to my family and friends!
