We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristin & Carrie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristin & Carrie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We’re two former educators who had recently stepped away from the classroom, but we still wanted to work together and do something creative. We’d made a few custom banners for friends and family, and people kept encouraging us to do more.

One day, over coffee and a casual trip to a craft store, we started seriously talking about the idea. We went home, sketched out a plan, and decided to give it a real shot. It felt like a natural next step—combining our creative interests and working side by side again, just in a new way.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We create custom-designed, hand-painted banners for all of life’s celebrations—birthdays, showers, graduations, and everything in between. Each piece is made with care and creativity, tailored to help make meaningful moments even more special. In addition to banners, we also host paint parties at home for both kids and adults. It’s a fun, hands-on way to bring people together and make lasting memories.

What sets us apart is our personal approach. We’re not a large-scale operation—each banner and event is thoughtfully planned and created by us. We truly love being part of our customers’ milestones, and we take pride in adding a unique, handcrafted touch to their celebrations.

Getting here wasn’t easy. Like many small business owners, we’ve faced our share of uncertainty and learning curves. But we’ve grown through it—by showing up, taking chances, and being willing to put ourselves out there. It’s vulnerable at times, but always worth it.

We’re most proud of the connections we’ve built—with customers, families, and our community. We’ve learned that people value sincerity and creativity, and that there’s real meaning in the details.

At the heart of our brand is a simple belief: that celebrating life, no matter how big or small the occasion, is worth doing well. We’re honored to play a part in that, and we’re excited to keep growing, creating, and connecting.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If our best friend was visiting for the week, here’s how we’d show them the best time in and around Fort Mill, SC:

We’d kick things off with a relaxed morning coffee at Tega Cay Coffee Co., a cozy local spot with great drinks and even better vibes. From there, we’d head to Crossings on Main for some shopping—it’s full of unique finds and a perfect way to support local businesses.

At some point during the week, we’d absolutely grab ice cream at Springs Farm, especially if the weather’s warm (and let’s be honest—it usually is). For a bit of nature and movement, we’d go hiking or biking at the Anne Springs Close Greenway—it’s beautiful and a great way to reset.

Evenings would include drinks at The Print Shop by Amor Artis, a great local brewery with a laid-back atmosphere. For dinner, we’d explore local favorites or venture into nearby Charlotte for a little more action.

If we’re heading into the city, we love catching a Charlotte Knights game—fun vibe, great stadium, and it’s always a good time. We’d also plan a full day at the U.S. National Whitewater Center for outdoor adventure, live music, or just a walk along the river. And of course, a night out in South End for dinner and drinks—tons of great food, breweries, and energy.

Throughout the week, we’d try to highlight the charm of Fort Mill and how much we love being a part of a community that supports small businesses and celebrates local gems.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We want to give a heartfelt thank you to our husbands, who encouraged us to take a leap and supported us every step of the way as we started this new venture. Their belief in us gave us the confidence to turn an idea into something real.

We’re also incredibly grateful to our friends who showed up for us in those early months—sharing our work, placing orders, and cheering us on. Your support helped us grow from day one, and we’ll never forget it.
