We had the good fortune of connecting with Keya Isler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keya, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When starting my own business, i was a sophomore in college. My first instincts was, “no one is going to support me, what if i don’t make no money, how do i become big like other brands?” I had so many thoughts and assumptions running through my head, I finally came to a conclusion one day and said I’m going to start selling t-shirts. I knew how to design my own logo, how to mock up a t-shirt’s basically everything I needed to know to get started. I designed my first t-shirt, it was a black tee with “KrazyKash” stated on the front with green and white money symbols. I literally asked no one how they think or feel about my t-shirt design or even me selling t-shirts, no one. I put faith in myself and ordered a bulk of t-shirts it was 50. They came in like a week, as soon as i posted on social media I’m selling t-shirt’s for my business, i instantly had people in my DM saying they want one. This is the crazy part, I started spreading the word on college campus and rocking the t-shirt, I sold all them t-shirts on hand in two weeks. That was my green light that this was meant for me and i actually had the support that i didn’t think i had.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am so proud of my brand for making it to 5 years in business. I never would’ve thought my business would come this far. I’ve learned a lot of lessons along the way like, who my real friends are and people are haters. I’ve lost a lot of friends while starting my business journey simple because I started making money and getting collaborations. i never understood why people hated on me when I always make sure you good no matter the circumstances. but I always overcome anything, I always strive no matter what. Now in time people will hate you because y’all sell the same-thing. I never will hate on nobody for trying to make some money, I dont care if we sell the same products or not. It’s enough money out here for any and everybody to eat. I’m all about putting others on, not knocking people down.

My clothing brand really stands out from others by providing cozy heavy blended tag less apparel. My clothing never disappoints and I’ve never had a bad review while being in business. I decided to have tag less clothing because tags irritate my skin and I have sensitive skin. I know it’s people in the world with the same exact problem which is why I decided to solve it by creating my clothing brand, Kash2Krazy. I hand make most clothing myself with my own creative designs. For my accessories like socks or hats i have personal vendors I use.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother & my grandmother. These two ladies play a major role in my life, they taught me how to hustle. How to always have your own and never depend on nobody for nothing. They taught me early, i just didn’t know to actual do it yet. Without these two in my life i do not know where i would be forreal. Shout out to them for leading and guiding me the right way and showing me how to get this MONEY.
