We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayleigh Theobald and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kayleigh, how do you think about risk?
I used to fear taking risks. But I know now they are absolutely necessary if we want to reach our full potential. -Not only in terms of what we ourselves can become but also if we want to maximize the impact we can have in others’ lives.

The familiar is comfortable. It’s predictable. Without risk we can at least control the outcome.

The course my life has taken didn’t afford me the luxury of holding onto what was comfortable and honestly, the most difficult challenges in my life have been the very catalysts that have forced me to continually step outside of what’s felt safe in order to create and innovate what I would never have been able to otherwise.

I started my career as a fitness professional working for someone else. And although I’ll always be grateful for the invaluable foundation this afforded me (learning as a trainer underneath top mentors in the industry), I eventually recognized my impact in others’ lives was limited by the inevitable ceilings this placed on my ability to serve my clients to the highest potential.

People looking to make lasting changes in their health and fitness need more than just good workouts. They need nutrition guidance customized to their goals and body type. They need support and accountability to overcome mindset roadblocks that fuel unhealthy habits. They need education on how to adopt key lifestyle components so they can continually see results and keep them long-term. I knew there was more I could be doing to help people improve their lives and the only way to do that was to step out on my own and create more than what the traditional training models out there offered.

This crossroads in my life came at a time when I was recently on my own with three kids going through a rough divorce. Stakes were at their highest for me and I could either play it safe and keep working for someone else (unhappy and unfulfilled and burnt out), or take a risk and go after the dream. It meant creating something I didn’t even fully know how I would build. It meant leaving what was comfortable, what was predictable. And the fear of falling flat on my face was terrifying. But I knew that if I never tried, I would never know if it was possible and I wasn’t willing to settle for that.

So I took the first step. Then the next one. I found the resources I needed and got busy building. It wasn’t easy and there were more opportunities to give up than I can count but I’m so glad I didn’t settle and stay where I was. Looking back, it was one of the most important decisions of my life. I’ve been able to impact so many lives in so many more ways than I could have imagined while building a life where I’m able to be more present with kids and feel way more fulfilled. And I’m so incredibly grateful.

Life without taking risks will always limit you. And it will limit the people you’re called to influence. Taking risks without vision or follow-through will guarantee failure. But taking risks with a clear vision and refusing to give up until you see that vision fulfilled will guarantee you can’t fail. I’m a firm believer that we create our own destiny when we partner with our purpose and choose to embrace the challenges along the way. Risk isn’t scary for me anymore. I see it as the door to greater opportunity. There’s no such thing as failure when you believe in yourself and refuse to give up.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I specialize in helping women in their 30’s, 40’s & 50’s see lasting transformation in their overall health & fitness, specifically in the areas of weight and body fat loss, and toning.

I help my clients through customized fitness and nutrition programming that not only factors in their goals and lifestyle but also the #1 factor missing in other programs out there: their BODY TYPE. If you’re not eating for your body type, even the best workout or nutrition plans will keep your body in preservation mode and prevent you from losing weight and body fat. I customize nutrition programming to my client’s individual body type, which activates their metabolism to align with their hormones, allowing them to lose weight much more quickly AND actually keep it off.

I see women all the time trying to stick to workouts they hate that take too long or don’t accommodate their injuries. So they fall off and don’t stick to the plan. Instead, I create plans for my clients with shorter, more effective workouts that easily fit into their schedule using exercises they can actually enjoy and complete without issues. I do this using minimal equipment without even needing a gym, so people can dive right into their routine and stay consistent without the hassle.

I provide people with the keys to doing all of this on their own as a LIFESTYLE, without-hitting-burnout -so once they achieve their desired shape, they can keep their results.

I hear all the time: “What worked before just isn’t working anymore. I need a routine but I’m not exactly sure what I should be doing and I don’t have time to figure it out on my own. I know there’s changes I could be making to my nutrition but I don’t know how to put it all together and actually stick to what I should be doing.”

I hand my clients a simplified process to start seeing the results they haven’t been able to yet IMMEDIATELY and eventually, do it all on their own as maintenance. Our program motto is “Progress over Perfection,” and it’s amazing to see what consistency with even some of the smallest lifestyle changes can bring in terms of overall impact on someone’s health and fitness, and life in general.

I’m so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to watch so many transform their lives in such profound ways. It’s so exciting watching it “click” for people, and seeing them actually make the lasting changes in their lives they’ve been longing for.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely start with Crumble Cookies because honestly, why would you start anywhere else?! Their cookies are out of this world and definitely a must-try if someone is visiting the area. If you have kids, the Marbles Museum in downtown Raleigh is AMAZING and there is interactive fun for literally any age. As far as food and drinks, if you want something lighter Vidrio is my high recommend for small plates that are packed with flavor and for a more traditional sit-down dinner, I absolutely love Sullivan’s on Glenwood for the live piano bar. 🙂

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Reuben Brooks, Ashley Damaj, Megan Anderson & The FitBoss Family – Their invaluable coaching and mentorship equipped me with the tools I needed to start out on my own and bring my vision for online coaching to life. Megan you are a treasured gem and I couldn’t do it all without you. -Thank you!!
