Meet KARMA

We had the good fortune of connecting with KARMA and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi KARMA, how do you define success?
I define success as a mindset. It’s not really about the material things and the accolades one may obtain in this life. Success is about facing one’s inner self so that an individual can own their insecurities and flaws and learn how to turn them into strengths. Of course, life will throw challenges in our paths every now and then, but this is all a part of the process of growth and development we need if we want to truly learn how to master ourselves. Actively doing that is success and allows for us to have the confidence to continuously go after opportunities that we desire to have in life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am currently going through a rebrand as a music artist, and I have been creating music since I was 13 years old as a rapper. Early on I began my journey with poetry and was eventually inspired by my friends to start rapping. As I became an adult, listening to a variety of genres of music, outside of Hip-Hop and Rap, I have discovered that I love R&B music and would like to transition more of my sound to this genre with Hip Hop elements included (think Mary J. Blige, Aaliyah, Lauryn Hill). Fame has never been something I aspired to have but my mind is changing on that because I know that notoriety is what I make it, and music artists in today’s world have the freedom to be independent without being controlled by a music label. I want to heal others through my music by sharing personal moments through the experiences I’ve had in my life with each song that I create.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am based in Florence, South Carolina, and it is a quaint little town with tons of restaurants but there’s not a lot of venues that attribute to a thriving social life for those looking for excitement and thrills. With that being said, I would take my friend out of town to either Myrtle Beach, Columbia, Charleston or Charlotte so we can enjoy different scenery like the beach, bigger cities, various cuisines and activities etc. I enjoy spending time in nature and being at the beach and if I go out to do activities I like karaoke and any place that has happy hour, good food and vibes! Lol.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I see myself as more of a spiritual person than religious, and I would claim that God or ” The Most High” as I refer to Him would be the most deserving of having a shout-out given. Spiritual practices like prayer and meditation have helped me to ground myself along my journey as a creative and as a person so that I can truly fulfill my life’s purpose.
